This is a Hindu religious place and a historic place. The TAMIL KING KUSALANAR lived here. He was considered as the last king of this place. The Murugan temple in the top of the mountain has the history of 30 generations. The ruins of the kings castle can be seen here. There are three ponds in the top of the mountain . one of them is the temple pond, pond for bathing and the pond used to bath by the Queen of king kusalanar. There was a belief that the castle was built by the beasts and still the beasts are living in the cave. But the entrance for the cave was not found out. The karadiyanaru people have seen the paddy husks in the mountain which are removed paddy stolen by the beast for food. Place used for judgment, the stone used to cut head and the poles used to tie the kings elephants are there. This Place is surrounded by paddy fields, hills and the Karadiyan Pond which was named on honoring the kings representative Karadiyan. Over five thousand people annually comes for the temple celebration from all over the Batticalao. This is the Heritage of Batticaloa.

An ancient Temple of Lord Muruga where the pooja takes place once in a week on Friday! The panoramic view of the Karadiyanaru can be seen from the top of the Hill!
Can have a small hike :)
