Well worth stopping by, peaceful in the extreme considering it’s just off the main road.
Historic temple
Beautiful temple. Try to enter to the place of the "sleeping Buddha", it's upstairs, where the Stupa is. There are also some sea turtles.
This temple is a great turning point of sinhala calligraphy in Sri Lanka bcoz of its immense value of beautiful lettering and beautiful southern kandyan mural paintings. These temple paintings are more related to karapitiya sunandarama purana viharaya & ranvella purana viharaya.
ONE OF THE TOURIST ATTRACTION TEMPLE AND ONE OF THE BEST TEMPLE ON GALLE - COLOMBO MAIN ROAD , 102 KM FROM COLOMBO , 4KM FROM HIKKADUWA
This a sacred place situated in Southern Province. There are 2 interesting Buddha Image Houses which are only opened on special poya days. You are lucky if you get in there on that busy day.
One of the few attractions around Hikkaduwa. Dont expect too much But it's worth a visit even though this temple is a little run down and in a not-so-attractive town.
Not so good
The most secret place closed by the door. Ask somebody to open you space with sleeping Buddha. Don't forget about tips)
Working days are learning days. You can walk at the yard and see Sri Lankan children learning their first lessons in life.
