Sad to hear about to all the lives taken by the explosion that happened during the easter day. May god pray for them. As a buddhist I feel sorry for them.

I visited this Church when I was a kid and I visited this Church today after explosion. It wasn't a good feeling to see the place like this. Military people were here to make sure all the people are safe. This is a well known prayer places for not only for Christians but also for all other religions. Place is a sign of peace. Lot and lots of people usually come here for praying and for other religious activities.
Hope and wish this chaos will end soon enough and this place remain the same.
Parking space available. Wheelchair accessible entrance also available. But no wheelchair accessible parking available here.

St. Anthony's Shrine (Tamil: புனித அந்தோனியார் திருத்தலம்) is a Roman Catholic church in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Colombo in Sri Lanka. The church is located at Kochchikade, Kotahena, Colombo 13 (not to be confused with the town of the same name Kochchikade, Negombo), and is dedicated to St. Anthony of Padua. The church is declared as national shrine.[2] A tiny piece of St. Anthony's tongue is enshrined in a special reliquary, which is located in a glass case together with a statue of the saint, at the entrance to the church. On 21 April 2019, a bomb exploded inside.

In Sri Lanka St. Anthony has many devotees and several Churches have been erected in his honor. Perhaps the most popular one that daily attracts people of every cast, creed or race is the one at Kochchikade, in the heart of the city of Colombo.
