Excellent vegetarian rice and curry. Highly recommend the spiced tea too. A nice escape from the tourist-heavy surrounding restaurants. We came back for seconds the next day!

Took the cooking class and it was quite boring. It was not interactive and we stood for 2 hours watching the owner cook. Wouldn’t recommend the class but the food was fine.

One of the best curries we had in Sri Lanka! My husband said, “You can really taste the years of experience behind each curry.” The place is simple and the food is delicious perfect place for local cuisine while you are in Ella!

One of the best food we had on the island. Really great! Service is awesome, it’s family owned and very reasonably priced. Just go eat there! Plus it’s not that spicy if that’s not your thing (if it is, just ask for coconut sambola).

Nice place. Food is delicious. They have Western and local cuisines. You should try their rice and Curry if u wanna get the real taste of Sri Lankan food culture. It situated on the second floor, bit difficult to see the sign board. Check for the BOC ATM and then go upstairs.

Was recommended to come here by the chef at Matey Hut in Ella. It was absolutely delicious - had the vege curry and a juice. Lots of curry varieties including a lovely aubergine curry and pumpkin curry. Service is fine. Incredible value for money too and possibly not as well known in Ella as it's set on a first floor on the main road (very central). I would highly recommend this for genuine home cooked Sri Lankan food.

Wow fantastic restaurant to have an eat. Top quality Sri Lankan food with very fair prices. The family who runs the restaurant is very nice and accommodating, all while you can enjoy balcony level dining above the busy street. Totally recommend

Even during an electricity blackout, service and food was top notch! Rice and curries were the best in Sri Lanka - most memorable was Brijoli curry (local veg, English translation unknown..)

Originally rated this place 2 stars because I ordered a disgusting pumpkin pasta dish Lesson learnt; don't order Western food from here. Today I'm eating the 'rice and vegetable curry' and it's amazing! 6 different curries make up the dish. Good WiFi too!

The best place we've eaten in Ella! While the decor is dated and entrance is somewhat hidden upstairs, you have to try this place! The vegetarian curry banquet is delicious and plenty of food for two people. The menu stated 1.5hrs wait for it, but we a were eating within 30mins. We each ordered a gin and tonic and the pour is more than generous! We sat on the balcony overlooking Ella main road. It was friendly service with a smile. Good value for money. A great experience. Don't miss it!

This is my first review on Google. Great rice and vegetable dish. The aubergine and dhal are the best I've ever had! We had dinner here last night and came back today for the woman's cooking class. If the meals take a long time to come it's because the cooking process is very long and she makes everything fresh. Definitely worth a visit.

Opposite the overpriced and overrated Chill bar/restaurant is this hidden gem of a place. Jade Green is an unassuming, no frills place and if it hadn't been recommended to me by a local I wouldn't have even seen it while walking on the main road. The curries there were fabulous, especially the chicken, pumpkin and jackfruit curry, as well as the fried aubergine which was yummy. The owners are also very nice. Don't leave Ella without trying it!

This restaurant deserves to be on the top of restaurants of Ella: good food and better price. We tried the chicken curry and it was delicious. The dhal curry and the aubergine were superb. I recommend to book the food in advance as it takes a while to prepare it.
