For a public bus station not bad with helpful people. The slow government buses and small AC mini buses are here. But the highway bus to colombo is not here but next to the cricket stadium

Galle central bus station is the main point of galle. Srilanka You can find all buses to go any destination. Like matare mirissa etc. To go mirissa you have to take matare bus. Mirissa is nice Attractive place in galle.. and the cost is only 60 srilankan shil.

Can find buses to many areas all over the country. And normal, semi-luxury, A/C and high way buses to mainly Colombo, Kaduwela, Kandy and Kadawatha. Has a direct access fly over to galle railway station. And can find food shops, Sathosa food city, commubications , phone shops, and bookshops and galle central bus station office at 1st floor.

Good to get buses to lots of cities..be careful of touts and make sure you check fare and route before boarding..We were quoted 210 rupees but paid 410rupees inside and sent to incorrect city disappointing experience

Main bus stand in Galle town. Restrooms Available. After 7-8 PM very few buses available. Expressway buses to maharagama, kaduwela, and for kadawatha available. Yhere is a help desk to get any information you need.

Asked for bus timing and route number of Roomassala Unawatuna at inquiry counter promptly i was guided. Even bus staff were helpful. Paid only 16 Rs. Tuk Tuk driver asked for 1000 Rs. Never trust tuk tuk drivers.

Compared to most public terminals in Sri Lanka, the Galle Bus Station is actually not so bad.
But unlike in developed countries, coaches here do not have rest rooms in them so if you’re travelling by coach and in need to relieve yourself, please don’t go to the public rest rooms here. If the smell doesn’t put you off by making you puke your guts out, the sheer state of it will. There’s a service person standing at the door and charging you for entry in to the rest rooms but they don’t look so “looked-after”. And even the area surrounding the rest rooms in the Galle Bus Station wreaks of the smell coming from the poorly maintained rest rooms. So since I’m really pounding on this topic, I guess I should give you a couple of alternatives. Coming from Colombo there’s a PizzaHut (650 meters) and a Domino’s Pizza (400 meters) from the Bus Station. The ladies will thank me and the guys, well, we’re guys so if the need is urgent enough and/or if you’re laxed enough in the hygiene department, even a tree would do :D
But getting back to the Station itself, it is well-connected and quite a big place from where so many bus routes start or end like Hikkaduwa (Hikka) or Unawatuna (which is where we were headed). Also worth mentioning the Coaches running from Colombo/Pettah to Galle and back. I’m based in Pannipitiya currently which is even better for me coming back from Galle as it comes out of the motorway at Pannipitiya.
There is a helpdesk of sorts here at the Galle Station but with no counter, you just have to go in through the door and ask the person manning that office. It may have been the person in charge of the Galle Bus Station although I did not notice a sign to that effect. Signage is rather poor or non-existent in Sri Lanka so your best bet is to ask someone other than a TukTuk driver who would most likely take you for a ride if they can help it. I have found that TukTuk drivers in general aren’t that honest about anything. Especially if you’re pale-skinned and or travelling with one. Of course there’re those the exception and I have met quite a few of those too so they aren’t like unicorns. But I remember in Galle, my partner and I were approached so often by different drivers.
So all in all, it was the first thing you see in Galle when you travel to. I hope you discover nice things and have an amazing time there. Good luck and Enjoy!

If you are foreign traveler never ask the about bus time tables from tuk-tuk/taxi drivers. They will not tell you true details about available buses and most probably cheat you. They make you have tuk-tuk service to where you go. There are several automated LCD screens displaying bus time tables inside ground flow of the main hall. Also you can ask time keepers, they will help you they stay 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM every day in small office cubicles located in ground flow main hall. After office time you can consult the police post located near south corner of the bus station. Both short distance and long distance running buses and also Highway buses to different places start here. To Colombo Airport you have to take highway bus to Kadawathe and then it is easy to take TAXI. Normally bus service are operated 04:00 AM to 10:30 PM. if you are going to Colombo in night, you can catch buses in front of Bus station (opposite side of beach) coming from Kataragama, normally around every 1 hour or 1.5 hour.
