The location is very calm and quiet. It's also kept clean and the Batticaloa gate is right within the fort park.

THE Dutch Fort was built by the Portuguese in 1628. Still in very good shape.

It could be the smallest fort available in Sri Lanka. You can go around whole fort less than 10 minutes. But look like this place have maintain and build to attrack more travels.

போர்த்துக்கீச கோட்டை அல்லது இடச்சுக் கோட்டை (ஒல்லாந்து கோட்டை) என அழைக்கப்படும் கோட்டையானது
1628ஆம் ஆண்டு போர்த்துக்கேயரால் கட்டப்பட்டு, ஒல்லாந்துக்காரரால் 1638இல் கைப்பற்றப்பட்டது.
இலங்கையிலுள்ள அழகிய சிறிய ஒல்லாந்துக் கோட்டைகளில் இதுவும் ஒன்று. மட்டக்களப்பு தீவுகளில் ஒன்றான புளியத்தீவில் அமைந்துள்ள இது, இன்னும் பழுதடையாமல் காணப்படுகிறது.
The Batticaloa Fort was built by the Portuguese in 1628 and was the first to be captured by the Dutch on 18 May 1638.
Later, the fort was used by British from 1745.
The fort has a structure of four bastions and protected by the Batticaloa Lagoon from two sides and a canal of the other two sides.
The fort is still in reasonable condition and many local administrative departments of Sri Lanka government function
in new buildings, which is based in the old structure.response / report this review -

Nice place to spend time. Beautiful view of lagoon and one side bridge. In the night time even more beautiful view. Park is clean and calm in the night time. I thing its better place to be relax. If you visit batticaloa dont forget to spend some hours here during the night time. I recommend this place to who like to enjoy beautiful environment

You can view the intricate design of the fortress by walking around on the walls. Which is the remaining structure. There are still old cannons around. Beautiful view and history behind it. Take a bicycle to there from the town.

The Dutch Fort Batticaloa, built by Dutch Colonials facing the Batticaloa lagoon. The old buildings, which are built with Dutch architecture styles, in the fort are now being used as government's administration offices in Batticaloa. However vistiors can enter the fort and vist around it also walk on the rampart.

The fort has a structure of four bastions and is protected by the Batticaloa Lagoon on two sides and a canal on the other two sides. The fort is still in reasonable condition and currently houses several local administrative departments of the Sri Lanka government in new buildings, which are located within the old structure.

இந்த கோட்டைக்கு நான்கு கோட்டைகளின் கட்டமைப்பு உள்ளது, இரு பக்கமும் பாதுகாக்கப்படுகிறது. கோட்டை இன்னும் நியாயமான நிலையில் உள்ளது, தற்போது பல வீடுகள் உள்ளனஇது ஒரு பிரித்தானிய ஆட்சிக்காலத்தின் ஒரு அம்சமாகவும் காணப்படுகின்றது
The fort has a structure of four forts, two sides protected. The fort is still fair and there are now many homes and this is also a feature of British rule
