The History of the Faculty of Applied Sciences
The Faculty of Applied Sciences of the Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka was
initially started as the Buttala Affiliated University College (BAUC) on 21st June, 1993.
The BAUC offered two diploma courses, one in Food Science and Technology and the
other in English Language. With the elevation of the Affiliated University Colleges to
fully fledged national Universities in early 1996, three Affiliated University Colleges;
Sabaragamuwa Affiliated University College, Uva Affiliated University College and
Buttala Affiliated University College were amalgamated to form the Sabaragamuwa
University of Sri Lanka and the BAUC became the Faculty of Applied Sciences of the
Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka. With effect from March 2008, the faculty has
been relocated in the main university premises at Belihuloya.

This is most beautiful and have good facilities in this faulty. The main building have 3 floors and dean office in 3rd floor.students union room of faculty of applied science at ground foor.This faculty has five departments.department of computing and information system,department of food science and technology, department of physical science and technology,department of sports science and physical education, department of natural resources, every degree programs has 4 year special degree. Faculty complex strart to build in 2010.03.01 and finsh in 2012.03.31. And it is waiting for second stage. And this faculty has computer labs,chemical labs, food science labs, In present prof udaya rathanayaka is dean.nearly 1000 students study in this faculty. Faculty of Applied Sciences - Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka. In 21st of June 1993, this faculty was started as the Applied Science Faculty of Sri Jayawardenapura University at Buththala area. In 2nd of February 1996, it became the Applied Science Faculty of Sabaragamuwa University. After a huge struggle, in 20th of October 2007, the past students was be abled to bring the Faculty of Applied Science to the Belihuloya.
