Hope this is the right place. We saw no signs of food only free pakoras with our beer. It is a wonderfully dingy place with all kinds of alcohol and especially strong beer and arak. There is an off-licence. The bar has an iron grill over it and the customer base is local and smokey. The music pulses and it has an edgy feel. The trip to the loo for ladies is an experience. Great evening out and a change from the swarm of Western backpackers.

They sell take away beers, not many places in Ella do that.

Can't get more local. Amazing curry and a lovely owner cooks right in front of you on a little terrace that feels like a treehouse. He'll make you sure you won't leave with an empty stomach (will refill empty plates) and speaks passionately about the food he prepares. Great price (less than 1000 for two dishes and pot of tea). Not 5 stars because the toilet (down the back of his house) was maybe a little bit to local for me ;)
