My girlfriend and I stayed at the Elegant Hamlet Homestay for four days and had a great time. The bungalow is brand-new and clean. Anything you might need is provided (AC, warm water, high standard bathroom, coffee and tea and much more) and there is plenty of room for four people to stay.
The host Chamara and his family who live next door to the bungalow took great care of us. Freshly made breakfast was provided every morning – whatever we wished for they made it possible. Anything from Western Style toast and eggs to proper Sri Lankan food – you can get it all. A lot of the ingredients such as coconut milk or fruits are taken from the gardens and could not be any fresher. During the day, Chamara showed us around the area – temples, markets, local stores etc. – explaining the country and the culture to us. Everything was arranged for us and the service was just perfect. We had a truly Sri Lankan experience – away from the mass tourism and the overcrowded sights.
As Chamara is also a tour guide for Sri Lanka, he helped us to arrange the rest of our trip – which was tremendous. We were provided with the best insider tips one could wish for and that made our journey unforgettable.

We chose this place as our first accommodation of our trip through Sri Lanka and it was the best homestay throughout our whole holiday!! Hidden between coconut palms, you'll find a little gem: a private bungalow that has 2 double beds on two floors (Maisonette-style) and a GREAT shower (hot water also), ideal for a family or 1-2 couples. The bungalow is located on the premises of Chamarre and his family, and they honestly do everything they can to provide you with the perfect Sri Lanka experience. The kitchen area is outdoors in a little hut so you can have breakfast (yummi, everyday something different!), lunch or dinner with the birds singing to you.
This place is perfect to start your stay, especially as airport pickup is free! We'll be back for sure.response / report this review
