Clean hostel, quiet. Good A/C in the dorm. No mosquito problems when I was there in March - in fact, not common to see mosquito nets in many hostels in Lanka at all, not sure what people are on about. And there ARE security lockers now! Wi-Fi was fast.
Owner very helpful and kind. She saw that I had a bad sunburn and put aloe on my back to fix it.
In a local neighborhood close to the sights in town like the Fort, Maritime Museum, and Dutch Bay beach. Cheap local restaurants and mini-marts a 5 min walk away.
Note that this place is not in the tourist areas of Uppeveli or Niaveli beach. If you want a more "lively" Western scene in the neighborhood stay up north near those areas.response / report this review -

I really wanted to give this hostel 4 stars as I enjoyed the vibe - quiet but still geared towards meeting people and I was very thankful for the air conditioning in the dorms. Unfortunately they're missing some key facilities, namely security lockers and mosquito nets. I travel with my own net so it wasn't so bad for me but other people in the room were a little concerned, particularly considering the bad dengue season when I stayed there. There also isn't any power points next to the beds so if you want to charge your phone over night you need to leave it over next to the door. The internet situation in Trinco is also pretty weird. When I first arrived at this hostel I had very fast wifi and was impressed but then later that evening it was so slow it was unusable. The reason (apparently) is that there's an internet data quota which is refreshed each day (or perhaps every 12 hours) so it will be fast after its refreshed but once it runs out it slows to a crawl.
