ß
This hospital has had a troubled past. It was once very overcrowded, according to information from Parliamentary debates in 1961.[2]
When the December 26, 2004, tsunamihit the area, this hospital had 30 beds. The hospital was 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) from the coast and was completely surrounded by water for a time. After the tsunami hit, a number of nurses and staff had lost their homes and had to sleep in hospital offices or in tents some distance from the hospital. The Red Cross helped repair the hospital and provided tents to serve as temporary shelter for hospital staff. The tents were set up adjacent to the hospital.[3]
Good Service
Good service
This is a tertiary care center in Mullaitivu district which is one of the general Hospital. This is located with mango tree environment. Therefore got the name as mancholai. There are two medical wards, two surgical wards, a gyn and obs ward, a pediatric ward, operating theatre, special care baby unit, emergency treatment unit, dialysis unit and other important units in this hospital. There are minimum staffs who work hardly and efficiently therefore running smoothly with good treatment. Those many doctors and Nursing officers are out of this district who are very dedicated peoples. We should appreciate those Hospital staffs on behalf of this district peoples. They stay here without their family members for treat and care patients.
