Very calm and beautiful sacred place. Akasa chaithya and Maara Veediya Oushada pokuna must see places. But the journey is through forest and rocks, so its difficult.

Rock temple with a very high viewing point. You could enjoy magnificent sight for miles. The Chief Buddhist priest was assassinated by the brutal LTTE terrorists. A must visit place.

It's an ancient Buddhist temple in the district of Polonnaruwa in Sri Lanka. This place is home to some majestic statues of the Buddha and his disciples. Some of these were hand crafted by the then chief incumbent thero of the temple. If you have time you can climb up to the top of the rock where a pagoda is erected. You can get 360 degree view of the surroundings stretching for tens of kilometres from the summit. One has to beware of the wild elephants and the sloth bear at dusk.

Another wonderful historical place in Sri Lanka.i went there on poson poya day..at that day I saw large crowd of people here..some of people were holding dansals also..picturesque place and everybody can visit here

Amazing view. Akasa Chaithyaya is located on top of the rock to which you have to take the steps. Steps are newly constructed with some hand railings, so now its easy to climb up. Once you go up the surrounding view is quite awesome. It will take about 40 minutes to climb up.
