This is the south edge of sri lanka. This lighthouse is so popular among locals and foreigners. It is not open for anyone to go up. But once i had a chance to go up and see th beauty. Better you go up in a sunset or sunrise. Really nice view. You can just go to that place and hangout for a while. There is a nice bathing place also. You can have a dip in the sea but be careful.

They said this place is the extreme southern most tip in Sri Lanka. The light house still working but we can't going up to the light house.

We were lucky enough to get the chance to climb up the lighthouse where there is a great view of the surrounding area. Good for panorama and 360 photography. Not very crowded but a beautiful location with a sea view.

Built by the Imperial Lighthouse Service under the British rule, the Dondra Lighthouse was constructed in 1890. This mains electricity powered lighthouse is 49 meters tall and currently maintained by the Sri Lanka Ports Authority. Range is 28 nautical miles.

It's a very beautiful place and the Southern end of Sri Lanka. Authorities should have provided permissions for tourists to see the views from top at least with restrictions because this could have been very popular tourist attraction. Even without the top view its a beautiful site.

You have to get permission from Colombo to climb up the lighthouse, however the surrounding area on it's own is worth a visit as well.

It's not allowed to go up the lighthouse. The lighthouse is about 1.4 km from the main road. The sea is so clear and blue near the lighthouse and great for some good photos. The area is calm and quiet and good for relaxing.

This lighthouse is situated in very calm-full and beautiful place. You can climb over to the lighthouse but you have to take permission from harbour master of Colombo Harbour.
