Probably the largest book collection in the centrel province. I have studied in there hours. So peaceful and calm place. It's like a treasure this place in the middle of the craziest city.

D.S. Senanayake Public Library is the Kandy Public Library. This place probably has the largest collection of books in the central province. Aside from the books, there are study areas, newspaper reading rooms, computer rooms available for member. Place is popular among college crowd as well as adults.

Shame that this is the only public library in Kandy. Bad staff -- don't expect to sit anywhere you like and read. They will ask you to leave from place to place in order to protect their "precious" little books and newspapers from us "thieves" -- reminds me of bad school teachers whose purpose was to dictate your every behavior. It's odd to see gender labels on chairs and cubicles, to which purpose I didn't recognize. In other countries, it's a pleasure to go to the public library to study, but never felt welcomed here. The book collection is old and small -- there's nothing much to see here.

library is good, excellent. provides what people want.
by the way staff is not that good. they think they own the library.😂 their behaviour is very bad towards young people. i believe they've had daddy issues or something. 😂response / report this review -
