Wouldn't be my first stop in Ella. The food is ok, the vegetable roti was very spicy, the chocolate ones were greasy. There are almost definitely better places to eat.

But the wierd bit came as we finished eating and we basically pushed out the restaurant. The server gave us the bill then stood over us waiting to pay. We were made to feel totally uncomfortable. An older guy started checking and rechecking the bill like there was an issue, we asked if there was a problem and they said not.

This is an awful restaurant, please don’t go there. I ordered a fish roti and it was so salty and inedible. Also ordered a ginger tea which tastes like normal black tea with no ginger. Service was poor, the place was dirty. I came out with a stomach ache.

Really bad service. The guy made us write down our own order on a piece of paper. Food was absolutely terrible. No one was eating here at lunch time. We should have known better. Learn from our mistake, please!

Didn't think the vegetable rotti would come out cold when we ordered, yet it did. Seemed like they wrapped cold vegetables in rotti, cooked it for 30sec and then served it warmish. There's much better places to eat in town, SKIP THIS ONE.

Decent curd but otherwise avoid. Disgusting kitchen with unkept bathroom. Nobody was dining there. The people who were running it had no change and no idea what service is. Avoid!

This is NOT the place listed in the Lonely Planet as the hole in the wall and must try place for curd and honey. It is a bit disappointing as the decor is bland and it is very dusty due to being so close to the main road. However, the food was good - we had chicken rotti and fruit curd. I disagree with previous reviews that the rotti was rubbery and the curd was delicious (and endearingly served in an ice cream sundae style!).

Thought I'd try devilled chicken as the reviewsfor the other disses were poor and i wanted a change from rice and curry. Went for the Devilled chicken. Very onion and spring onion based dish. The chicken pieces were cut in small and they weren't recognisable but I carried on chowing down until i spotted a piece of chicken foot. I stopped eating. Gave one star for the useful information on busses fromn the host.

Absolute joke. Took 20 minutes for toast to arrive in a wet plate, only toasted on one side. Terrible service. Terrible food. Terrible experience. Worst in Sri Lanka.

Went here for some hoppers and rotti, since it was written in the Lonely Planet as good place to go. It took a while for the food to prepare. While waiting we were sorry for getting here. There is a lot traffic passing by just a few meters away from the table (much noice, gaz smell and dust). Also the tables were not cleaned well. The hopper was fine but the rotti was like chewing gum.

A proper place to eat some rice and curry at local prices! 200 rupees for a good and tasty portion. Sit upstairs for people watching :)
