Greedy scammers
There are a bunch of hidden costs that are way higher than the market price.
We tried to reason about the extra charges and just gave in and paid. We then went to the other homestay I had booked on the parallel road Kandy Hill Breeze on Mawilmada road and they also said they couldn’t accept us to stay.
Initially because they don’t take Sri Lankan guests, but we are an indian and an Australian. After speaking more we found out she was actually the sister of Kushal the owner of Comfort Guest House and it seems the whole family is in this business! He had already called her and told her not to let us stay. By this pointy friend was hot, exhausted and feeling terrible. She just started crying. I cannot believe he was so spiteful as to make sure we wouldn’t even get a room at the other place. We realized the reason they don’t want Sri Lankan tourists is because they would have something to say about the price for sure. It was all quite manipulative and sneaky.
He had even told us the rickshaw drivers are mafia so that we would only do tours with him. (Albeit paid ones that we at the time didn’t know would have a cost.) I don’t mind people making money. But at least be honest about it.
Final additions to this is that the house is full of ants. Don’t leave your fruit or any food on the counter for long it will get covered in ants.
I don’t recommend this place at all. Surely there are kinder more genuine people to stay with in Kandy.response / report this review -

Rajan and his family were very kind and helpful to us. Rajan was not only available to guide us in Kandy, but also after we left Kandy. We were served an authentic Sri Lankan breakfast during our stay at their home stay. My review would be complete only after I mention about his dad, who actively shared his insightful experiences in the country. I strongly recommend you to stay at comfort home stay if you're visiting Kandy.

We stayed one night at this very clean and comfy place. Kushana, the landlord, offered us free tour to the tea factory and spice garden. He was very nice and helpful. We would stay there anytime again, since it is really near to Kandy and you can get a bus to and from this place anytime. This was exceptional hospitality!

Место очень странное. По приезду хозяин отказался размещать в номере моего водителя и гида (ланкийцы), хотя номер для них был забронирован через букинг за две недели. В результате мне пришлось искать место, где их разместить. Интернет подключают только на ТРИ часа утром и вечером. Комната для гостей выходит прямо в гостиную, где хозяева со своими детьми просто живут. Если все это вас не смущает, то нормальное место чтобы переночевать.
