This is a great place to read books, magazines and allkind of stuff. But you need a membership to get in. You can get a member ship form from help desk. This library is a main library in srilanka. It has various kinds of books to read and it has sections for kids, youth and adults. It has a studying hall too. You can study peacefully in there . Also you can work with your laptop if you need. But you need a membership for study hall too.
They have other services like restaurants and washrooma too. Not to worry :)

Has a large collection of books in a wide range of genres. Searching for a book is easier now as the process is computerized and you can easily search the catalog online and locate the book.

I often go to the study hall and it's a very quiet and a clean place. most of the people around colombo don't know that there's a good study hall. BTW it will be a more comfortable place if they maintain a quality canteen.

It is a great place to read and borrow books from. It is also a very quiet place, so it would be an excellent place to study. It has a wide range of books, though it doesn't stock new arrivals quickly. But it has lots of books dating far back. It has a great outdoor area, which would be great for relaxing and it has ample parking space. But it is closed on Wednesday's and holidays, so it's hard to get maximum use of the library.

Contains a vast variety of books. You can even find books older than 3,4 decades. Take the membership there if you are a regular reader. You can experience a peaceful and a calm environment. Ample parking. The staff had better be more friendly.

Study hall is very calmful and quiet. Highly recommend for those who do A/Ls, Higher studies. Library is closed on Wednesdays and Public holidays, other than that everyday 8.00am-6.30pm

Good collection of books for children and adults. Has a study hall too. This study hall can be utilised by producing your identity card and paying a small sum to the office there. It has the facility to use a laptop ( power sockets are available). Seperate floors for ladies and gents.

I've been a member for more than 2 years and the fact that there's a public library for the masses is valuable. Get your kid a membership and interest them in reading. So many books from novels to academic books are available here. The study area is partitioned and quiet. It's only unfortunate that there are no discussion area and the study area is separated by gender.

Good place to study. But I don't understand why at least the reference section cannot be air conditioned? Without running like 20 fans that are power hungry, wouldnt it be better to install 2 ACs to this place?

I've been a member for more than 6 years and the fact that there's a public library for the masses is valuable. Get your kid a membership and interest them in reading. So many books from novels to academic books are available here.

There's a study section too which you can get access to by paying about Rs. 50. The study area is partitioned and quiet. It's only unfortunate that there are no discussion area and the study area is separated by gender. You can't study together with your female friends. I suggest that you go to a hut in the front of the viharamahadevi park for group study sessions as most people do.

There are bargain book sales many times a year where you can grab really great books sometimes for Rs. 100, for which the original price was Rs 2000.
