Chulangani wihara complex which is located near the Udhaganawa dagaba, had been created by prince Dutugamunu and prince Saddathissa. A rustic statue and a ruins of a Bodhi Gara can be seen around this dagaba. The Culangani temple complex was designed in the 7th century.

Small stupa about 400 meters before Yudaganawa stupa. most people do not bother to visit this place even though they pass this to visit yudaganawa
But for a history and arch buff this will be interesting not as the stupa but for ruins of Small Buddha statutes (3ft ?) similar to 11 meter tall Maligawila Buddha statue for archaeological explorers.
The statues are fallen, and in ruins, no restoration has been attempted. It's believed that this and yudaganawa complex is built by King Saddhatissa ( brother of King Dutugemunu) whereas Maligawila Buddha statue is attributed to King Aggabodhi 7-8c AD whereas Chulangani Viharaya is believed to be made in the 12th century. It could be that Buddha statues have been moved form Maligawila to here.response / report this review -

Just before the Yudaganawa car park you will pass a small stupa on the road side. This is identified as the “Chulangani Viharaya” belonging to the 12th century. But the Buddha statues inside the image house (see photos) have been dated to the 6-7th centuries.

Ancient ruins that you shoul visit. It is placed near yudaganawa stupa.

This is identified as the “Chulangani Viharaya” belonging to the 12th century. But the Buddha statues inside the image house have been dated to the 6-7th centuries.
