We had a lovely Stay. Hotel is direct on the beach. Nice rooms, great views and lovely people.

All it has is big room with sea view . The door was broken. No toilet paper. Not very clean. Only 1 tea bag and one suger in the room. The food was not up to standard. The pool was filthy. The drivers room condition was appalling. Even though we booked earlier for a cheeper rate they tried to charge us more when we checked in.

The hotel is very new and modern, we loved the beautiful real wood furniture and super comfy mattress.
The ocean is just outside of the hotel so in 30 seconds you can be swimming:)
Pool is clean and large enough to enjoy swimming in it. Beach outside of the hotel is clean and water is shallow maybe the first 20 meters, so I believe that's also good for kids.
Large bottles of water are provided each day by the room service - very convenient since the shopping options in the neighborhood are pretty limited.
Regarding food that a lot of people mentioned as a downside - breakfasts offered fresh pineapples, papayas, watermelon, bacon, toasts, jam and pasta, sometimes spring rolls, curries, pancakes, etc.
I've only eaten the fruits, pancakes, bacon and eggs and it was all very nice. Since I'm not much of a curry for breakfast person, I cannot comment on that.
Last thing I want to mention is that staff - all very friendly, kind and very responsive to any request we had.
We have very much enjoyed our stay at Cardamon and hope to be back at some point in the future:)response / report this review -

Great hotel for the value. Service and hospitality is really good. Rooms were very comfortable and spacious. Food is not that good though. Not much of a variety. Friendly staff and convenient place in Nilaveli.

Hotel rooms have nice view to the sea . Rooms are nice & clean. Foods are not up to the standard. Not enough tea & sugar bags , no milk powder bags in the room . No telephone to call staff & No menu available in the room. Access roads need to be improved. Doesn't value for money.

The hotel lies directly on tbe beautiful Nilaveli beach. There is just a couple of buidings on the beach. Hotel is designed for fans of scuba diving and snorkeling. The hotel, unfortunately, does not meet expectations.
Positives:
Great location, friendly local staff, new furniture and other equipment. You can pay by card - unlike in most Sri Lankan hotels.
Negatives:
Smelly bathrooms, limited menu, bad acess road. The hotel is owned by a Chinese company and designed for Chinese tourists. These can be very noisy at times. There is not much to do except for snorkeling / diving. The hotel is away from the Nilaveli town.response / report this review -

Hotel located on the beach with nice swimming pool. Rooms are big. Good hotel but not a luxurous one. However the staff can be improved. We asked for several things and despite them saying yes, nothing was done. Also, we asked for bus schedules and they give us a bad timetable. We had to wait 3 hours for our bus under the hot weather while we could wait at the hotel comfortably

The hotel could not get any closer to the beach and the rooms were nice and spacious. The staff were also helpful with the only real negative being the quality of the meals. We never had dinner at the hotel however the breakfast was less than average - think Nescafe and fruit drink when fresh juice is so readily available! If this was resolved this place would be incredible.

A beautiful airy hotel right on the beach. The first floor is very nice with a big bookcase full of books and magazines, art on the walls, lovely pool area and beach beds. The upper floors seem unfinished, only some plants here and there but walls are dirty, no art or such, cables hanging out etc. The restaurant on the first floor is nice for breakfast but in the evening it's not very cosy. The food was also mediocre.
We stayed in the 2-floor room, which felt minimalistic and quite luxurious after living in cheaper rooms in Sri Lanka. The bed and bedding felt really nice. There's nothing else (yet) on the beach and it's beautiful, we much preferred this to Uppuveli. The water is crystal clear and sparkly!response / report this review -
