This is a two store building. In the second floor there is a 3D movie cinema hall. This is a stand where you can find buses moving ahead all most all the areas of the country. But the cleanliness of the environment should be more improved

This is the main bus stand for the matara district and it provides busses to all over the country. As examples you can get a bus to go Thissa, Katharagama, Ampara, Colombo, Kandy, Jaffna, Trinco or any other places. This is a too story building. Busses stop in ground and 1dt floor has a mini cinema, communications, restaurants and shops which are sell phone accessories. There is a beautiful view of the sea. Express way busses are stopped at other side of the road, near the beach. Destinations of the express way busses are Colombo fort, Maharagama, Kaduwela and kadawatha

Bus stand is located on beach. Buses to Colombo air-conditioned via highway every 15 min. And to negombo at 1330 via airport.fare is 530 to Colombo and 850 to negombo. It takes 2hrs to colombo and 3.5 hrs to negombo
There is no waiting room as such, but have joints and stalls to buy water, snacks.
The quickest way to get from mirrissa is to take a local bus to matara to this bus stand.
If you have to catch a flight count at least 30 min. Extra for traffic.
The bus is not a Volvo but decent leg room is available.

This is the main bus stop in Matara town! there also a shopping complex in the second floor of the building. Usually a clean place really crowded all the time and busy. There is an ATM also. Oh there is a 3D film hall if you into that (could use it to kill some time 🙌). This bus station offers good customer service too. Also this is the station that you should use if you want to use the southern express highway. You could find buses to travel anywhere in the srilanka from this station. Highway buses starts at 4 a.m. everyday and they work till 7p.m. in the evening. Highway Buses stops at the back side of the station facing the beach.

One of the largest bus stand in sri lanka. There were lot of good things at the begining but now nothing but only the building due to lack of maintenance. Very beautiful place.

If you are foreign traveler never ask the about bus time tables from taxi drivers.they will cheat you. There are several automated LCD screens showing bus time tables inside main halls. or u can ask time keepers, They will help you they stay 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM every day in small office cubicles located in main halls. after office time you can consult the police post located near the public toilet in the bus station. Both short distance and long distance running buses and also Highway buses to different places start here. To Colombo Airport you have to take highway bus to Kadawathe and thenit is easy to take TAXI.Normally bus service are operated 04:00 AM to 10:30 PM. if you are going to Colombo in night, you can catch buses in front of Bus station (opposite side of beach) coming from Kataragama, normally around every 1 hour or 1.5 hour.

Very noisy and chaotic. Sometimes bus drivers drive their buses in the stand without caring about the people on foot..but its is sufficient and it does a good service for the community.
