Not much of a crowded place. A hike through a rubber estate and a thicket. Not much of a high ascend, anyhow want to go like more than 1 hour to reach the destination. The entrance to the trek is not facilitated with any of shops nor public facilities.

The Batadombalena archaeological site contains evidence of habitation from as early as 8,000 years BCE and is one of the sites whose discoveries support the "Out of Africa" hypothesis, according to Professor Paul Mellars, a Cambridge University archaeologist. Among the evidence of Balangoda Man he unearthed at the site were stone tools that are interpreted as arrow - or spearheads and carefully shaped and perforated beads made from ostrich eggshell fragments. One particular piece of an ostrich eggshell, incised with a distinctive criss-cross motif, has also been discovered.

It's very loneliness place I ever visited, and roughly hike to batadobalena cave..but awesome Forest..You should come back to start point before 4:00 pm.. because there is many wild animals

Very nice place to visit. Hike is not that difficult and it's worthy. A person in Colombo can cover this in one day. Also be aware on rain season. Because water level will rise. Very nature friendly atmosphere and please do not leave plastic and polythene. Just leave the trail.

It is most important Prehistoric cave site which located lower land raining forest.in Srilanka. There were done many of archological exploration and excavation. According to those exploration and excavation, the cave is belon to 37.000 year Before the Present. As wall, the finding of the archological datas of here were data 37.000 year Before the Present. Many of local and foreign archologists have done researchs about the cave and finding of archological datas in the cave stratification Great archological place in Srilanka. You should visit this place .this is not divaguhawa the name of here wrong it should be Batadobalena

An ancient Buddhist temple situated in Rathnapura district about 10km away from Kuruwita. Temple was built inside a huge natural cave. You can see ancient wall paintings and ancient Buddhist status. You should walk about 1km from the car park and climb stairs to get to the cave. You can see a nice view of Sri Padhaya from the cave during clear whether

Sri Lanka is an island of 65610 square kilometers, located in the southern tip of Indian sub- continent and between North latitude 5-55, 9-51 and East longitude 79-41, 81-35, surrounded by the Indian Ocean (map No1.1). Maximum distance to India is 19 Kilometers. These two lands divided by the Pork strait. However India and Sri Lanka situated in a same plate. Because it’s separated as an island, Sri Lanaka heredity of trees and animals percentage is high in the wet zone. South Indian west Ghats Mountains and related zones are in south Asia’s biologically hot zone. According to the researches it is revealed that in Sri Lanka for difference of species the most important zone is wet zone. Therefore the value of it has increased because most of the prehistoric evidence have found from prehistoric excavation in the wet zone and intermediate zone. The reason to focus on this zone is molluscs which were used for this research also spread initially in this zone.
The Ratnapura area of Adams Peak situated in middle of wet zone. Cloud forest, down south evergreen tropical rain forest, grass grounds, rivers and river falls are plentiful in this zone and it is a home for most of its conventional animals and trees. According to modern administration dividings half of Sabaragamuwa belongs to Ratnapura Distric and the other

half belongs to Kegall District. Prehistorically importance of this zone heritage increases more by revel skeletons remains of the first humans who who was living in this country and stone tools were found from open caves dated 37,000 years ago. The ancient man from our country revealed as Balangoda man first from this zone, most of the human evidence found in Kuruwita Batadoba lena. Moluscs shells found mostly from excavation, there are many notion, distribution of Acavus order molluscs in Mesolithic era and man who lived in this era used molluscs for his food also it can find presently around this zone. Because of this reason Mesolithic man who lived in Kuruwita Batadoba lena and this area were selected for this research.
Batadoba lena is at approximately 500m above from the sea level in Kuruwita Valadure village. Batadoba lena got famous around the world because of the prehistoric remains that were found from its excavation. Batadomba lena rock shelter is located at 6o 46' N and 80o 12' E (Avissawella one inch topographical sheet 67), (Map 1.1). The site can be reached from Kuruwita junction, six kilometers west of Ratanapura. From Kuruwita there is a motor road leading to Eratne; after travelling one kilometers along the road, one reaches Ekneligoda, and another road leading to the Siripagama. Four Kilometers long there is a mountain footpath through the Batadomba-lena forest reserve. It leads up the hill for two kilometers over rushing streams studded with boulders before terminating at the entrance to the shelter (Fig 12). From this Point, one is afforded a view of Sri Lanka's strike valleys, the forest spread across it, rolling hills and mountains, and the deep cliff of the Ratnapura valley. The shelter faces northeast through an inverted V-shaped entrance, 10 metres high at the middle and 15 metres wide. The floor measures 20 metres wide by 10 metres long and is dry even during rainy seasons. The interior of the shelter is well-lit. It is easy of access and water is providing by a small waterfall streaming over the shelter on side. The discharge runs beneath the shelter to join the stream some 30 m beneath the shelter which falls into the access path to the site
