Nice and calm place to visit.
Prince Siddartha was born in this "SAL WANAYA" Remaining Sal tree looks pretty old to any one who see this. Roots are big and spreading very far from the tree.
When you climb the rock there are several caves where Rahathun wahansela meditated. One cave which was identified by Archiologist Senerath Paranavitane where Buddha has lived and preached Sakka Pangna sutta. This rock was named Vediyake pabbatha. Village name was Amba Sanda. All writings on the rock has been giving adequate informations to confirm that the Buddha lived in this Island.
