Remarkable sacred buddhist temple at the top of the rock. You can climb up halfway of the buddha statue to view whole beautiful city of kandy. Just behave mannerly as preachers here.
Anyone vist kandy he she definitely wont to vist bahirawakanda
Nice view from the top of it. Take with you bag or backpack to put there your shoes. Entrance costs 250 rupiahs. If you are going to use tuk-tuk, then you should not agree on their first price, bargain with them - end price may be less then 75% of the initial one.
Road to it is very busy and noisy, not the best place for walking.
Nice religious place in Kandy.
Situated in the top Bahirawakanda mountain, This statue is very eye catching place in the Kandy town since the location of it.
Elevated road and some steps will lead you on the top of hill where Huge Buddha statue is located along with Bodhi tree. The place offers nice view of the entire Kandy city at it feels like you are looking at the city from Buddha's perspective.
Beautiful view, we walked from the bottom all the way to the top. It was a reasonably hot day so we were lucky enough to purchase a bottle of water at the very top. Entrance fee as mentioned is 250 and if you don't have a place to store your shoes you can leave it with someone else (for a fee). There are places around the sides (without entering) where you can take a picture of the statue. Again, incredible views of Kandy City. Even if you are just walking to the top you'll be glad you did.
A huge Buddha statue and Vihara atop a mountain. Easily visible from the city if Kandy. A bit if a hike. Narrow roadway If you drive.
One of the most beautiful place and biggest statue in kandy. 2 km away from The Temple of The Tooth and was built in 1972. Very elegant surrounding. Also could reach to the top of the statue by staircase which on back.
Went all the way by foot. It was a nice walk and once you are in front of the entrance you'll have to put off your shoes. Taking them with you is possible, if and only if you have a bag or backpack where you can store them. Otherwise you'll have to give them to some guys for some money, of course, so they don't get stolen. The entrance fee was 250 Rs for foreigners. Locals seemed to enter for free. They view is amazing though. Especially, since you can get upstairs (behind the statue), as well as inside. The statue itself is astonishing, as well. I'd recommend going there if it is not rainy.
Wonderful religious site..
better skip rainy days.
Best time to be at this location is just after 1700 hours (5pm) Can experience kandy view (Totally different atmosphere at Night compared to Day time)
Must visit place in Kandy
88ft hight Buddha Statue. Vehicles can be acess to the temple. Great place to visit and worship loard buddha.
You HAVE to donate Rs. 100 to keep your shoes, can't leave it outside alone. Foreigners have to pay Rs. 200 for entrance. Even residence visa can't skip the ticket. (Residence visa can visit the temple of sacred tooth without ticket.)
BTW, nice pano view.
A religious spot with a huge Buddha statue . We have stairs to climb up to the shoulder to get an amazing view of the entire city of kandy. There is also a souvenir shop inside the temple which sells inexpensive Buddhist and Sri Lankan souvenirs which is worth the price.. If you visit this place, take my word to grab a few souvenirs as you won't get them anywhere else for the same price in Sri Lanka.
Huge Buddha statue, where you can climb upto the shoulder. Gives a good view of Kandy city, much better than the 'View point'. You'll be disappointed if you are expecting Nirvana
Wonderful Temple with a panoramic view which relax the mind.
Nice Statue. BUT another part of singhalese racism: if you are white they want money for every fart
Huge buddha statue which is visible from entire kandy city. Worth visiting once. Very calm, clean and peaceful place. Buddha statue is 86 feet tall.
