Place was good but did not offer any variety when it comes to food.
There was no beach and the only beach was a bit of dodgy walk

What a beautiful hotel! Everything is beautifully decorated, there is a really nice pool and view of the ocean. Staff is great and we had such a pleasant stay.

Accommodation was exceptionally good and rooms were in tip-top condition
Very clean and well maintained
Excellent service staff who were courteous at all times
Food was of a good standard but a bit pricey (room for improvement here!!)
Overall, it was of a good a good standard

I was supposed to visit this hotel this month. We had to cancel our trip literally at the last minute because of a demise in the family due to which we were not able to fly out to Sri Lanka. I wrote to the hotel asking if due to the extenuating circumstance, they could atleast offer a partial offer. The response I received was shocking - no condolences, no sympathies. Just a one line response stating that hotel policy was that no refunds can be given since it is a peak season. Reason I'm writing this review is not because I didn't get a refund, but because it was such a callous, thoughtless response. Regret ever booking this hotel. Every other hotel I booked in Sri Lanka had a much more sympathetic response (even though not all refunded my money, which is understandable)

Great for some rest and relaxation. It's just after the Matara exit on the southern expressway which makes it an ideal place for a quick getaway from Colombo.

Had a decent stay but the food service was abysmal. The wait times were long, the food was often cold and they paid almost no attention. We stayed in suites and super deluxe rooms and i found the suites were quite lacking compared to the other rooms.

The atmosphere surrounding Amaloh is very pleasant and peaceful. The rooms are clean and spacious and nice lay out too. The staff is very cooperative and friendly. We spent 3 nights on HB basis at Amaloh. Everything was up to our liking except the food. The food is below average. All three days for both breakfast and dinner we were only served Chicken red curry & fish yellow curry. No other sea food or meat dishes were provided.no variety whatsoever. Apart from that, food is not very tasty although the Chefs are trying their best. Though some reviews said there is a buffet when full house, it is entirely incorrect. Amaloh has a space issue and there is no space to lay out a buffet. One other important aspect is there is NO beach although the sea seems to be quite safe around the hotel, you get in to the water at once. The sea is right up to the hotel boundary which is lined with big rocks.

“Mouth watering Food and exquisitely cozy Rooms”

This place is nicely set up on the Polhena Beach, Matara, which is a little bit tricky to find. But if you follow Google Maps, it's as easy as ABC.

Positives :

1.The main highlight is delicious food. Their chef who has 13 years of experience, working in Italy speaks to the customers individually and prepares the food. Certainly the best "Pasta / Pizza" I have ever tasted.
2. Rooms are very spacious and bathrooms are of unique design.
3. Hotel has some wonderful locations for photography.
4. Friendly and caring staff.

Need to Improve :

1. When checking out I had a small issue as my friend made the reservation for me, the hotel told me that an advance payment was made. But when leaving they took time and called my friend and told me that it was not and I eventually made the full payment. It was later found that in fact an advance payment was not made.

I guess this should have been clarified during my stay rather than taking time when checking out.

Overall, I can fully recommend this place to chill out and pamper yourself.
