It is a place you have to visit atleast once in your life. This temple is located near to Minuwangoda and usually crouded on poyadays. This temple is historical and has an archeological value. It says that the history of the temple runs in to the great king Valagamba era.The largest wooden statue of the Lord Buddha is located on the top of the mountain and the authorities allow visitors to be on the top of the mountain only on poyadays. There is a breathtaking view on the top of the mountain. You can see many valuable paintings on the cave walls of the Budhugeya.

According to the people this temple is believed to be one of places where King Valagamba spent his time when five Dravidian were ruling Anuradhapura. Temple land is in extent of over 100 acres.
The temple is thought to have come into existence during the 18th century. An old manuscript found in the temple gives an account about the lands given to the temple by a Dutch officer in 1796.
