Adishan- another historical monument of the British Colonial rule in Ceylon. Now run by the Church, with its in house home grown Jams, cordials & fruits. A great Stone structure set in the side of a mountain in Haputale.
From outside it looks interesting ,could not visit as the place opens only weekends and holidays!
But you can hear the wilds animals and the atmosphere is so cool and misty..
Not worth the time, money and drive spent. Nothing to see and almost all of the parts of the area is closed from public viewing. Nice places to sit and superb views with a beautifully constructed mansion. But that's it, nothing else.
Great place to visit in srilanka and please visit Adisham farm too there they have fresh fruits and vegetables. Please feel free to taste Adisham Jam and Juice that they make using those fruits. Cheers 🍻
Beautiful Scenic Place to visit. Year old Chateau on a cliff edge with a wonderful mountain view.
Nice garden.
Farm fresh products from same land is available at shop inside.Great ginger Cordial.
The house is now a Museum for the former owner.
You can stay there for a night as a guest with prior reservation.
Location is exceptional if the time and the weather is perfect.
This is why we say Best Country in the World. It's super awesome place to visit. Bit difficult on road to pass through vehicles not so much. Can go on any vehicle.
A majestic house with old architecture. The place gives a scenic view of the surrounding mountains. The parking space is limited near the entrance area, but can park along the road.
An old bungalow made using stones and wooden roofing. A true master piece of old architecture.
Currently serves as a monastery and public access is allowed only during weekends and holidays.
Only a limited access is given to public inside to see around. A stall available for purchasing products of the monastery.
A bungalow that shows how much beauty ancient architecture is. Surrounded with beautiful flowers and trees. Small boutique inside which has a variety of jams and stuff. Super upcountry venue. The lodging also is fantastic. Make early bookings.
Nice place to see especially the scenery of the location. Old English bungalow. There was only two rooms to see which I am not impressed. They should improve to make it a more worthwhile journey visitors.
Lots of couples comes for wedding pre shoots
There is a shop you can buy strawberry jam, other varieties n cordial
Nice place Can Book Rooms also. Can Stay with very Dark Cold Night. Adisham Jam vary tasty. can buy from Sales Counter.
A nice place to visit, historical building with great views Can buy Jam, Cordial, Chutneys and many more
A look in to the past. Of English Architech Yet so mysterious interiors Enjoy every moment of someone being looked at You can book it as a restaurant yet it's so high price.
Traveling long distance to visit this wast of time. Heavy vehicles are not permitted. If you coming from it have to walk 2km (up+down). Upstairs closed and just you can see videos about upstairs on an small TV (Documentary videos we can see online these days). Three rooms were opened. just 20 feet waking and done. Very disappointed.
Cool place nice for evening visit. you can feel the limitless nature.. religious place.. keep it in mind
Very beautiful bungalowcool climategood for our physical healthvery nice to see arround..nice scenery
Rich history says it all..well maintained, that's the main reason for attracting more people
Beautiful old style British Manor, 4 stars because most of the manor is closed off for visitors (understandably it's a monastery). Finding parking on a holiday is nearly impossible. But it is well kept and wish there was someone explaining the history or some brochures available at the site about the history.
Wonderful place to spend your morning or evening. The place is very beautiful at sunrise and sunset. It is a British building in the beautiful island of Sri Lanka. Place of historical importance. Nice antiques seen in the building. There is a small stall selling some strawberry products and other stuff.
There is a fee at the entrance and you will be welcomed by a beautiful flower garden. It is a well kept and maintained monastery, a cool place to visit.
Why do I give 4 stars?
I like old British manors the old imperial style of yesteryear.
I must admit I would love to of the items and so but I understand as it's a convent for the monks.
But here comes the clincher for me and here I'm very subjective.
1. The setting with an old British style in nowhere land
2. The nature , the scenery and with a beautiful sunset you get lost.
3. The strawberry jam is good, not Norwegian standard but very good.
4. The book collection and flowers
This place would be perfect for a juicy murder right out of a Agatha Christie or Sir Arthur Conan Doyle book like the Baskerville.
The roads here are very much improved compared to 10-15 years ago so this is shaping up.
If you have a chance I would recommend you to visit it if you are into old style.
If you have not seen a typical English manor then acceptable to visit. Otherwise a waste of time. Nice surroundings and immaculately maintained gardens. Nothing much to see inside. Just 3 small rooms on display. Worthless. VERY IMPORTANT- if you in a big vehicle DON'T GO . You will spend hours to get out - if you find a parking spot . The typical Sri Lanka 'to hell with others' attitude of parking in places where one shouldn't (both sides of the narrow road, ) you will never get out. We took 2 hours to get out,! !! Not an exaggeration
Nice surrounding around this prestige building. Brings us to 1-2 centuries back. There are no so much things to see. But when I'm traveling around this area I usually visit here. I love this place.
