Ever since Buddha had shown us the path to Nibbana, ever since the Sangha began to spread the teaching to the people around the world, there had been a very close relationship between the Sangha and the lay people. As the Sangha settled down in temples in human settlements the village and the temple became one single unit. The temple became the centre around which all life activities of the village came to be.

Calm and quiet temple. Also it's an ancient temple that has connection with King Dutugemunu. Can see an inscription there.

Its really good place just very clean and quite. You can see such beautiful surrounding when climbs up the rock. Thats very important place for buddhists since long ago.

This temple owns a very rich history that dates back to the period of King Dutugemunu. Located on a hill that overlooks the surrounding area quite beautifully, this is one of the MUST VISIT places in Baddegama.
