Description

Beaches opened its doors in the early 90's and has been operating for over twenty-five years. It has been a popular venue in the north of the island for making use of the beach for beach parties and its sea views.

Initially run as a family business. Back then, the village of Gros-Islet only had rum shops serving beers and the hard spirits to predominantly male customers. Beaches was opened with a view to providing something different in the village.

Taking influence from the Uk style wine bars in the 90's, wines, spirits and beers were served with bites to eat. This attracted a mixed crowd of people; Couples, women, men, locals, tourists, prominent business people and ministers.

Capitalising on the amazing sea views and beach front Beaches the 'bar' was renovated to a two-story building, 'Beaches Inn', adding guest rooms upstairs so that the visitors to the island and patrons alike could take full advantage of this special piece of St Lucia to be fully immersed into it's thriving local life and world premier cultural events like the Jazz festival and Carnival.

Beaches has been run by a number of leaseholders over the years, yet today, you can meet loyal customers who began patronising at Beaches in the early years continuing to enjoy the local ambiance and sea views over a drink by day or night.

The world renowned Gros-Islet Friday night Jump Up is 50m down the road and very popular with locals and tourists. Beaches is close enough to take advantage of the influx but separate enough to provide something different.
