Deir el Harf is my hometown. Great place in the midst of pine trees, a small school and a very nice convent where time seems to have stood still. The story of this church is actually a great one: one of the best priests who has died about 30 years ago, Father Boulos ABOU JAOUDE. Our village residents were mainly Maronites, then some Orthodox families moved in. They needed a church for their Sunday mass and, since the convent's church was kinda small, they were considering building one. So, Father Boulos who was a very wise person, respected and loved by all, said "our village shall never be split in two, we split the stone in two" so they split the old Maronite church in two: the one to the east is still the Maronite side and the West part, right next to the convent, is the Orthodox part. So, until this day, all the residents of this beautiful village celebrate Sunday mass right next to each other. When you visit it, just go inside and checkout the wall: you can see where it splits the church in two.
