Vintage.
The perfect place for non-commercil films.
I love this place, it's somehow vintage, always offers a nice selection of movies, sometimes not available in Lebanese cinemas. The movies are chosen from all over the world not only hollywood. They host events whose profit goes to supporting a cause.
Great movies.. Some stories will stick with you
if you are interested in foreign films, documentaries, indie or the non typical"hollywood" kind of movies then this place is for you. they screen interesting movies that you usually cannot find anywhere else. The movie theater is old so it adds a rustic element to the movie experience.
They frequently organize movie festivals, either a specific theme or from a specific country ect.., providing an exposure to a wide variety of films with different styles and from all over the world.
The cost of the ticket is very reasonable and cheaper than the other cinema theaters in Lebanon, and sometimes they screen movies for free (if part of an event or a funded festival)
This is one of the unique places in Beirut for cultural events, Cinema festivals
A modest movie theater.. but they put very intristing movies
Must visit for all who are interested in international movies and film festivals. Very interesting screenings!
I love the kind of movies that are projected in this movie theatre and the type of people that go to it! I am not giving it a 5 stars 'cause the theatre itself is not the best one Ive seen.. maybe it's still nice that it has the retro feeling anyway
Authentic, good variety of movies
The best place for alternative non-commercial films. A meet up place for artists and cinema enthusiasts.
The Best! the only one who cares about showing great filmmakers movies from time to time with almost symbolic tickets price. Once for example, they did a week for Antonioni! you'll never find this anywhere else in Lebanon. In addition you have the week, or more than one week, of international cinema. Plus other events, like showing short movies for independent movie makers.
Enjoyed very much Hady Ghandour's film : The Traveller .
Great alternative films and events
Go there for the movie festivals. They don't show blockbusters. Expect a cultured audience.
Wonderful cinema. A pleasure, coming from the UK!
It's my favorite cinema in Beirut. Don't get discouraged by the restrictive 2 auditorium layout. Movies are usually well curated, especially if you're keen on trying something that the big movie theaters are not offering. It's also a venue for various international and national movie festivals, so the schedule are pretty diverse.
One of the oldest theaters in Lebanon part of the Empire Cinemas Group. This venue is now dedicated to offer less commercial movies, movie festivals, indie films, local productions and similar genre.
Highly recommended if you are an amateur of the genre
