We were at cafematik they wanted to charge us 9000 L.L for a cup of hot water to make my sons bottle very expensive and they are the only one that sell water near the gates. so sad that they take advantage of travellers

Small, disgusting, filthy, always-crowded not enough employees at the gates and check-in desks, guards look at you as if you were some kind of a criminal. Wrong check-in window numbers for the flights at the display screen, so we have to go desk to desk by yourself to check which one is correct for you. I missed my flight once because of this window check-in confusion.
You will typically see people fighting at the check-in desks because of the over crowdedness and the very few employees that serve a huge number of customers.
As I was leaving the airport after missing my plane I was interrogated fow why I was leaving after I have entered the departures gate.

Again on my way back from Budapest - having a European residence permit and being half Lebanese - I was interrogated again for an hour at some security office before they let me pass through the arrivals gate.

Beirut airport is a the only airport we have in Lebanon not huge but okay there's coffee shops and duty Free shops.
They work more to make it convenient for passengers and comfortable

If you want to experience the most miserable customer service then BEY is the place. The staff were rude all the way from the check in desks to the boarding points. My relative was traveling from Beirut to Istanbul and she had to pay for overweight which is absolutely normal and acceptable after which upon boarding the staff started asking questions and I am quoting: “Have you been to Syria”, something that is non of their business after which they have started to become picky and rude asking if her cabin bag had overweight. After establishing that the bag had 1 kg. extra, something that should be done on the check in desk they offered her in the most disgusting way to pay $200 for that 1 kg something that I couldn’t find on their website. Then they carry on saying: “It’s either you or the bag”, “we cannot wait for you” and “bring her checked bag of the plane and leave her here”! Honestly I was mortified and shocked. She didn’t have choice but leaving the bag in the airport which contained necessary and valuable items, things that you would usually put in your cabin bag. If I could I would definitely give less than one star. Airport experience should be at it highest standards everywhere and should treat people respectfully and politely. I will have to consider a legal action if they lost or refuse to return the bag.

Difficult to rate really. Mixed emotions it has lot of good but a lot of bad. On the good side some of the staff is friendly, there shopping options are huge and fairly well priced which is surprising for an airport. You can basically get good deals on most items. As for bad, customer service could also be increased for sure. Cleanliness of airport in general, they smoke everywhere even though signs say no smoking. Huge line ups so PLEASE MAKE SURE to arrive much earlier then normal to ensure you have no problems. Come at least 3 hours prior to flight.

The airport needs a huge renovation . The staff is so lazy (about 75% of them). The security needs to be more friendly and welcoming . The way that luggages are thrown in the plane is very horrible. Anyways , it's a mess.

Terrible security. Especially when flying into Beirut Lebanon. Very cocky, they will try to intimidate you, argue with you and try to steal your belongings. Only 1 security line with one TSA X-Ray machine. The wait was about 2 hours. They tried fighting a guy in front of me because he told them you guys need more machines and security lines. They offered to take him to the back room so they can teach him a lesson.

Bad customers service worth airport I have ever seen in my life every body asking for tip and beg for money including everybody no exceptions.
Not recommended for transit and connecting flight sucks..

The airport was great when it was built. It needs a good renewal. No self check-in. Wifi is only 30 minutes and it is out of order on today.
Duty free remains fantastic. I love lebanese wines.

Be careful!!! Do not buy a sim card here on arrival - the cheapest one is more than USD 70 for what costs around USD 15 in the city.
Take UBER, do not take TAXI. We paid USD 11 to get to the city downtown with UBER, the TAXI wanted USD 40.

On the whole it is not a good airport. Lines at passport control, unfriendly, sometimes even insulting staff.

The check in is disaster. People are disorganised and it takes ages to do check-in.

Prices in the airport are very high. 5 dollars for a small bottle of water.

Coming in to Beirut is pretty quick as security check are some what quick. leaving Beirut at the end of August is to avoid as all Lebanese expat leave to go back home otherwise it is pretty quick. It was a nightmare at security check and check in could be improve with self check in booth. Food prices are expensive in the terminal..

My own experience was yesterday. I was traveling and made sure to be 3 and a half hours prior to departure. First, all of the Airport baggage handlers were busy and none will be able to help us. Most of them waiting for their customers who most probably reserved them in advance. I can see many but none will help me or help others. We had to search in the Airport for trolleies. We found the trollies and then we loaded and handled our baggage by ourselves. While in line you can see clearly people are cutting the line supported by either the cusoms officers or others. Anyhow did not bother me much since i still have time. When we reached to MEA counter, the conveyor built got broken and then we started to see clearly the disturbing actions by the responsible people supporting the people with great $$$ connection. Their baggage find its way for tagging and moving it to the elevator area for big items while we are waiting in total disappointment. We waited for almost one and a half hours until we managed to see our baggage find it way via the built. I strongly recommend not to travel during this time if you don't have to. Travel after the holiday and it will ease and relax you during your presence in the Airport.

A little confusing to maneuver but overall a positive experience. Lots of good shopping after immigration. Only a short amount of free wifi which is a negative if you are waiting a while.

Generally bad airport - truly malmanaged, poorly distributed, and staff are flauntingly racist. Cafeteria is overpriced in an unacceptable way and the experience all in all is unpleasant. The only airport we have though, so no other choice.

Update: the bags belt is now stuck so we're all watching the staff yell and fight among themselves while we wait for some sort of miracle

The last time I flew was with my family we flew Beirut to London Heathrow Airport. We had a couple of some minor issues in the Airport. It all started when we woke up bright and early for our flight to our home country London when we packed our bags and luggage (suitcases) then took our car to the Airport because we were renting the car so we had to wait for a member of the car company called Advanced Car Rental so about 10 minutes later he came. My family and me entered the Airport then got passed security and check-in then we arrived at the passport control. This was where the issue started. We waited for more than half an hour for the queue to move and then made us late for our flight so then a while later we got passed passport control then quickly went to eat because we were starving so I wanted a Tuna Sandwich then when I looked at the price tag it said 16,000 Lira (Lebanese Dollars) which is £8 then my dad had to complain about how expensive the food was then after we finished eating we ran to the gate and were almost the last people on the plane. Luckily we made it and flew back safely to London Heathrow Airport. I flew Middle East Airlines which is our favourite Airlines but other than all the minor issues we had we enjoyed the flight and the food. Celebrating 70 Years Of Middle East Airlines.
