I’m coming this weekend
The name of the cave is actually Khoun Xe. The river is the Xe Bang Fai. Khoun Xe Cave is mentioned as being the worlds largest cave river. It is approximately 6.5 km all the way through. Some sections of the cave are over 100 meters from the surface of the water to the cave roof.

Greatest cave system I ever visited. 7km deep, you can kayak through the cave on the Green Discovery Laos three days trip. The trip is a bit pricy but is well worth it. Not a place easily visit by yourself due to the poor off road condition to get there.
If you have your own motorbike and experience in off-road drive, go for it on your own and pay at the entrance a local who will take you to the cave and lead you inside on his boat! Stunning!
I paid 93000 for ticket, boat tour and parking! Carefull at the road it’s a proper dirty track
Stunning. One of the best experiences of my life was to canoe through the cave. It has areas full of geological formations and feels like another world.

wonderland. Go for it! Green Discovery is (Feb 17) the only organisation, that leads customers through the whole cave. its incredible beautiful. Huge rooms with stalagmites and stalagtites, not too hard to do - but as it is long, you need some fitness to paddle your boat upstream. At the other end we didn't go outside and had lunch at a fire. Downstream was easier and we could stay in the boat on the small cataracts (there are several passages, where you have to walk and the guys carry the boats).
In some caves lots of small bats, but not eery, never!
Overwhelming, when you come back to light ;-) Close to the entrance there is an additional cave with marvellous stalagmites and -tites. guys from green discovery did an excellent job. Although it is not cheap, do it, you will never forget it!
Locals also offer a tour into the cave - don't know how much it costs, but it will also be impressive and you will get a good impression of the beauty and greatness of this cave. They seemed nice.
The road is at the end very bumpy and I would recommend going there on a special motorbike only if you are experienced off-road-biker.

The current name is Xe Bang Fai Cave. The river as it exits the cave is stunning.
