Staff preferred to watch TV instead of paying attention to their guests. We didn’t feel welcome here at all. Mushroom burger was disgusting - they should focus on quality instead of quantity. We went there because of the good reviews, but we aren’t able to relate to them in any way.
This is some of the best veg and vegan food I have eaten in SE Asia! I have been here for my last 5 meals and I love it. They have a a wide variety of western and local foods, I highly recommend the Larp a local Lao dish typically made with beef. The food is average price for Loas, which seems a bit pricey compared to Thailand or Vietnam. I love this little spot and I hope you will too!
Delicious!
The only Vegan/Vegetarian restaurant in Vang Vieng. Would recommend to anybody.
Most reccomended dishes are the curries, especially green and red, curry fried tofu, peanut sauce fried tofu, pumpkin sandwhich, pumpkin burger, curry spring rolls, fresh spring rolls, Leviot (fried mashed potatoes), and their Lao green tea, or Green tea with lime.
Super good food, it just takes a bit of time to get your order, and as with all of Asia, the food typically comes out individually, not all at once.
Owners speak English, and their daughter waitress understands, but doesn't speak English.
My partner and I are vegan and believe it's important to support vegan and vegetarian restaurants over conventional restaurants any day. We ate at Vegie Tables & Vegan every day for 8 days, usually twice a day. I uploaded photos of the menu, and you can see they have a large variety of food. It's a small family that runs it, and they're very nice but quite shy and reserved, so don't expect them to treat you like you're the only person on the planet. The food was overall great, and some of our favourites include:
-fresh spring rolls (freshly made, minty. 20,000kip)
-fried spring rolls (25,000kip)
-samosa spring rolls (better than fried spring rolls. 25,000kip)
-veg tofu curry (red is absolutely amazing.. green is fantastic but quite spicy. 30,000kip)
-fried rice veg with tofu, curry and mushroom (not spicy at all. 25,000kip)
-fried tofu with curry sauce and rice (SO good! Crispy tofu. Sweet and savoury and creamy, not spicy at all! Portion is a bit small, so get extra rice. 30,000kip)
-fried mixed veg with curry, tofu and mushroom (same sweet and savoury curry sauce, not spicy at all, larger portion than the tofu one. 30,000kip)
-leviot: fried mashed potato (super delicious. 25,000kip)
-tofu sate with peanut sauce and steamed rice (really savoury and tasty, spicy. Not a large portion so get extra rice. 30,000kip)
-all 4 burgers are really good. Ask for no mayonnaise. Pumpkin burger was our favourite, huge patty. Then tofu burger, then mixed veg with mushroom. The aubergine was the smallest quantity. Use the provided ketchup, salt or chili sauce for extra flavour (35,000kip)
-sandwiches are also good and cheaper. Get fries on the side if you want (25,000kip for just the sandwich)
-falafel, humus, salad, fries and pita (delicious humus, large salad. 40,000kip)
-mixed veg mushroom kebab with salad, fries and pita (large, delicious. Add condiments if you want. 40,000kip)
-extra rice (5000)
Other food:
-yellow veg tofu curry (pretty good, more spicy than the red and not as tasty as red or green. 30,000kip)
-all of the food in the "Lao and Thai Food" section is spicy, from chilli or black pepper (25,000-30,000kip)
-fried noodle with veg, tofu, mushroom has a lot of black pepper (25,000kip)
-potato soup (pretty plain, baguette wasn't really toasted, may be better to add salt. 25,000kip)
Tips:
-take the initiative to approach them if it seems like they're taking a while to get to you. They have a new baby or may be preoccupied
-say vegan if you want vegan. They are vegan themselves and they understand what it means
-when ordering, point to the food name in Laos language to make sure you get exactly what you want. You should do this in every restaurant though
-don't get pissed that they don't speak English as well as you. You're in THEIR country
-I think they use little salt in cooking. Use the condiments provided if you feel the food is a bit bland, they're there for a reason
-food takes a bit to come out, so be patient
We were very happy to support this family every day we were in Vang Vieng. Other food we ate was from roadside stands that had smoothies, fruit, sugarcane juice, or grilled bananas and veggies. Lots of restaurants have veggie options but we chose not to support them.
Different dishes, the people do not speak to much, no drinking healthy options.
Family run vegetarian restaurant. We ate here a few times while in town. Miscommunication can take place, ensure clarity when ordering each item. Best Papaya salad with sticky rice I have experienced in SEA with no MSG as an added bonus. Recommend trying the Laos green tea, delicious with a good buzz.
Pretty average, prices high, food was ok and the smallest portions we’ve had in Asia. If you’re vegan, desperate, and flush with kip, go here.
Unattentive and horrible staff, didn't feel welcome here, half the menu was missing, and my pad thai was just fried noodles with veg. Don't go here.
Food with bad taste.
Hummus was terrible, falafel soso, service unfriendly. Really wanted to like this place
Food was fairly good. Some was amazing; some was sufficient. I went 5 times and 3 times it was closed--on different days/times. No hours posted.
Spring rolls not so good, only cabbage insideand they could add some more tofu and other vegetables in the food! Too simple Staff not very kind
The only sad thing is that this great restaurant is so close to bullshit music from different directions. Still the food was amazing, very original options compared to the standard dishes they serve everywhere and the service was fast. The chefs are probably ten times more passionate then the waitress ;)
Delicious food and a lot of varities!
Don't miss this place when u travel to vang vieng
Good vegetarian food :-)
Little bit pricey but very good! Nice place and friendly staff.
