3 day 'The Wild Explorer'. Challenging hikes all 3 days, it is hard climbs and descents. Dense jungle and bush so there were not many viewpoints. Slept in a tent both nights (not the cleanest), first night was by a trickle of water, second was not near water at all (high up with beautiful view of stars).
Food was amazing and prepared in banana leaves and with jungle ingredients (Same meal each day). All the guides were friendly and helpful.
Looking back on the description we really didn't receive what was stated. Didn't sleep near streams (no creek to bathe in). No coffee or tea. Didn't learn about jungle wildlife or plants. No bamboo tool making (drinking glasses). Didn't build own shelter. Had to purchase own water in village. Villages were just a pit stop with no interaction with locals.
Overall still a great positive experience, just expected more now that we look back.

I did the 3 days Wild Explorer tour. We had a passionate highy experienced guide who took us through a wide range of jungle terrain. We started the hike in a small village and walked in one day through rice fields, bamboo forests, creeks, hilltops and deep jungle. Food is freshly prepared and served on banana leaves. We spend the first night in a jungle camp and the second in an eco lodge in a hill tribe village. Best of all is that a large percentage of the proceeds benefits local communities. What an amazing experience!

Did a two day trek with Mun. He was a really nice guy, spoke good English, knew the answers to almost all of our questions and prepared great food. For the trek I would say it was also really nice, but there was a leak in the roof of the camp (when it rained heavy, water would drip on my face). Overall it was a great experience visiting two villages and staying in the jungle. The food they prepared was also really tasty.

I went on a tow-day trek. It was raining heavily but it was still a really nice experience. However, there are several things the agency could improve (, given the price you pay for two days.): roof at the picknick spot so the food does not get too wet, fix the roof at the hut so the rain does not get trough at night. These are low cost fixes that would improve the trek a lot.

I went on a two day trek with the Hiker into the dense jungle in Nam Ha National Protected area. It was a fantastic experience. We trekked for 5 hours a day, ate our food off huge banana leaves and came across countless types of plants and insects. Our guides were great and knew so much about the jungle, having practically grew up there. We slept outside in a shelter, under a mosquito net in the middle of the forest. Awesome experience, even in the lashing rain. The agency provided all equipment and hire local people as guides and helpers. It's nice to know your money is going back to the people you have met along the way. If you are visiting Luang Namtha, this is a must do!

I did a 3-day trek, part jungle, part homestay.
It's a very good company. You can experience the real jungle: walk, eat and sleep under the beautiful trees. The homestay was also very interesting. Nice way of learning about the culture of a local Lao tribe.

Well, It's been over 2 months i've travelled in South East Asia and I gotta tell you, I've never felt so welcomed and toughed by local people here in Luang Namtha. The city may be a bit of lethargic though it's one of those places we all need to visit to feel and experience real Laos. I highly recommend The Hiker, I finished Jungle Tracking with coupe of friends I met in hostel and we all loved it! The staff and guide showed excellent performances and I particularly loved fish barbecue and sticky rice with bamboo sprout in the middle if Jungle after long trecking.
The guide in minority village who could't speak English and couple of enthusiastic staff from The Hiker made us unforgetable memories, we had been chatting and got to know each others cultures( Lao, Korean, Canadian, Swiss) and helped each other getting thorough Jungle.
I absolutely recommend this place! cheers!

I did a 1 day trek with The Hiker with Noy and a local guy. Both are lovely guys, and Noy is quite funny and informative. The trek itself was really good, a little bit challenging but not too much with some good views along the way, and we went to an ethnic minority village where we got an insight to village life. Lunch was a Laos-style picnic which was tasty and there was plenty of it.

The manager Tom is very passionate about what he does and seems to care a lot about his customers, whereas when I spoke to the other agencies it seemed they just wanted your money. With The Hiker at least you know your money is going to the right places, and the amount you pay is worth every penny :)

We did the Namha village experience with the hiker. An exceptionally well planned authentic tour. Thoroughly enjoyed being able to get a mix of adventure and seeing the local way of living. Great to also see that The Hiker is an ethical company who give back to the local communities.

This trek I did with The Hiker was definitely one of the highlight of my trip around South East Asia! The team is experienced and super-friendly; you can trust them to offer professional and authentic trips.

The hike was a bit challenging, but absolutely duable providing you wear the appropriate shoes. Should you encounter any difficulties, the guides will show patience and offer you a freshly-machete-made walking stick! The trail was smartly selected: not once did we bump into another group of tourists, it was just the 8 of us and the jungle, which was much appreciated. The ever-changing scenery (rice fields, bamboo forest, primary jungle) makes the walk never boring. The last climb is pretty steep, but rewarding: a breathtaking view awaits you at the top.

Our two experienced guides, Noi and Ta, were both fluent English speaker, trustworthy, and always keen on answering questions, as well as having a good laugh with us. They cooked us the most delicious meals (Noi’s tomatoe sauce was a killer! we almost licked the bowl) from vegs they bought on the market, or got by themselves: mushrooms from the jungle and grilled fish caught in the river at night, with a torchlight and a homemade harpoon! They set up the camp for the night, all out of bamboo and banana leaves: we fell asleep with the loud sound of the jungle.

I would definitely recommand The Hiker for a trek around Luang Nam Tha. These guys have the heart on the hand, and you can feel it throughout every aspect of the company. Our group had the chance to enjoy the official opening ceremony of their office: only 6 months on the market, they’re doing a amazing job!
