Tad Sae Waterfall

  3 stars for this time of year. Its deserted because hardly any water but its worth the short boat ride for a dip in the clear water if you're passing by. If you're doing a loop from Luang Prabang you'll notice all the development going on for the new train line.

  DO NOT GO DURING THE DRY SEASON!
  
  DO NOT SUPPORT ELEPHANT RIDING/CAPTIVITY!
  
  We motorbiked there for a day trip in February. 5,000 kip to park, 10,000kip/person for a quick boat ride to the falls (not optional), and 15,000kip/person to enter. Nowhere were we told that the falls were COMPLETELY DRY. The only water that was there was some dirty water from a pipe that was being pumped in for the elephants.
  
  Oh yeah they also have ELEPHANT RIDING there so be aware. We absolutely do not support elephant captivity or riding and that alone could be enough to skip it. They also have some other animals in cages.
  
  We were there for about 10 minutes and decided to ask for a refund. Managed to get 1 ticket refunded.
  
  Besides the falls being completely dry the whole place gives off a dirty vibe in more ways that one. Go to Kuang Si its infinitely better even in the dry season.

  Beautiful location on the river. Great place to relax and enjoy looking at the waterfalls, have a swim, ride an elephant or have a bite to eat. Worth spending some time. If you book a package, make sure it includes Tad Sae Waterfall.

  So nice place! Nice jungle trail around river. Amazing water, but in the time I was there, water was pretty cold 😁don forgot take your swimming dress. Just I don't like elephant riding and the small monkey in cage😣

  So much better than expected, 10k for boat return, another 15k for the entrance, plus a tuktuk or scooter rental price, easy go up to 10 dollar spending, however the whole atmosphere was so nice n m so glad I did it.

  Very nice waterfall. The 1st set of falls has a nice swimming area and restaurant. Be prepared to walk a track that is very muddy and not well maintained in order to get to the second and third set of falls.

  Bathing with the elephants is absolutely worth it! Better in the rainy season the dry season makes the waterfalls completely dry

  there was no water in the waterfall when i visited it, but you can have a nice trip in the forest.
  
  they keep some monkeys in a 1.5m x 1.5m x 1.5m cage, which is unacceptable, as you have to pay 20,000 for the boat plus 15,000 for the entrance to see a dried up waterfall, and they cannot build a larger cage for these monkeys?
  these cage are too small even for a tiny bird, not for a monkey!!!

  Very nice, tiered waterfalls. You can wade into the water and climb up on the different levels. Don't ride on an elephant if the owner still uses a seat (howdah). It is very bad for the elephant.

  Fantastic waterfall! Not too much People and you can swim wherever you want. Little boattrip to the Tad Sae Waterfall is fun as well
