Locals recommended this place so we assumed it would be fine. In the late afternoon we were shown a room on 3 of 4 levels and went with level 2. During the day it seemed fine. They asked us to prepay so we did but did not bring our belongings to store in the room. Later that night we came to use the room and it had a putrid, stale, musty smell throughout the room. We told the attendant and he kindly gave us another room. Same smell. When we brought it to the owner's attention and asked for a refund due to the state of the rooms, she gave back a fifth of the cost and was very rude. We were not looking for fancy but base level cleanliness seemed like a reasonable request. The owner also said the rooms can't be musty as the windows would have been open to air out the rooms but neither rooms had windows 😑. We previously stayed at Manyvong Guesthouse in a more rural area for cheaper and had an amazing experience. It was hard to breathe in the rooms offered let alone sleep. Could not stay there. Would not recommend at all unless you want your next accommodation to be a hospital

Foul stench, smelt musty, damp and unserviced. Ended up leaving and not staying. Mould and stains on the walls and ceiling. Refused a full refund due to the unhygienic state of the place. Owner accused us of being fussy. Cost was high compared to other similar properties we'd stayed at in Laos and they were of higher standards than what we got at this place and cheaper. Wouldn't even let my dog sleep here. Google won't let me zero star this place.

It was clean. The TV didn't work. The sink drain was not connected to the drain pipe so the sink just drained on your feet. There is a large building being constructed next door. I could touch the building out of my window. The construction started at 6am every day. The toilet seat was not attached to the toilet. But for the price and since it was clean (and I'm used to this kind of place) it was an OK stay. The owners were very nice. They just need to spend a little more time on maintenance.
