Its a must do tourist thing. So be prepared for the line. Be sure to wear sport shoes.

Nice caves but the boat to reach the cave is the best part. The Mekong from Luang Prabang to Pak Ou is quite nice with beautiful landcapes

The boat ride took roughly 2.5 hours up with a 15 min stop at Whiskey Village - local wine & weaved products are made & sold (same items which can be found at the night market but probably cheaper). Will need a bit of stamina to climb as the steps are steep & its quite a climb up to the upper cave. There's not much to see (there are better caves in South East Asia), can be completed in 20-30 mins including the climb. But if you are a devoted Buddhist, offerings are available at the cave entrance for prayer purposes. Nevertheless, interesting sights to see along the riverbank

We took a really cheap boat out, so take this with a pinch of salt. It's quite a long trip for something fairly underwhelming, and there are huge numbers of tourists swarming all over. You arrive and are given a very strict half hour by most boat cruises, and they are usually pretty grumpy if you are even a few minutes late. Probably better if you take a more expensive and comfortable boat. The stop at the whiskey village was OK, but they are quite pushy trying to get you to buy stuff (which is understandable, given their location, but just chill a little!)

Nothing to spectacular. Done in 30 minutes. When you have seen many caves before you wont be impressed. The boat ride there and a stop at a quiet village (not Whiskey village) nearly push this to a 3 star.

If you have seen other caves in southeast asia (like Myanmar or Indonesia) I wouldn't spend the time visiting this caves. The 2 hours to get there and the 1 hour back is too much just to visit this. The trip around the river is nice, but not 4 hours worth.

Seeing the cave is cool and a worthwhile stop on a Mekong River cruise, but don't go out of your way to come here.

The only public boat to Pak Ou Cave departs 0830 daily (65,000kip).

It takes ard one and a half hour to the entrance of the cave, including 20min visit to a small village nearby. During the boat ride you can enjoy the view of Mekong River.

The cave itself is very small, you can probably finish the visit within 20 min, including 5-10min for walking upstairs. There are some buddha statue inside, but remember to bring a torch as the cave inside is dark. Then you will get back to the pier at ard 1PM.

In overall the cave is too small and not really attractive, most of time are spent on boat ride. I would suggest you doing this and Kuangsi at the same day, AM for Cave, and PM for waterfall, as there is one minivan to Kuangsi that departs at 1330 daily.

This cave is a Holy Place that you should come to visit during your trip in Luang Prabang by public boat which has only once time daily on 08.30 h with Kip65,0000 per person fee. So, if you wold like to join the trip so, you have to arrive earlier 08.30h since if you miss then you have to pay as a special service trip for Kip350,000 for 5-6 people in your group.

Nice place to visit. The ride up and back was great. The cave was just the icing on the cake.

There are boats that leave every morning at 8:30, be there at 8 am. Ticket let's were 65,000-cheap.

The ticket office is just west of the ferry dock on the Mekong.

We took a private boat from Luang Prabang up to the caves to see Buddhas.

The boat ride was spectacular. This is a beautiful way to travel up the Mekong and watch simple life unfold on the banks of the river. We stopped at the whiskey village, bought some drinks and ice creams and had little explore of a rural village. I sampled some of the rice whiskey. Pretty foul actually but a nice experience.

The caves are awe inspiring. Very beautiful and a wonderful story. We went to the caves on the top as well, hired a torch and the children had fun exploring.

After, we crossed over the river and had a wonderful meal in a restaurant on stilts with the most amazing scenary as a back drop.

This is a great way to spend the day.

Caves themselves aren't amazing, but the boat ride up is really lovely and such a great experience, definitely not to be missed during a visit to LPJust don't expect the caves to be the highlight, enjoy the journey
