  This is not a hotel with a bar, restaurant or spa, but a peaceful set of self-contained, old colonial style residences.
  
  Set within well maintained gardens with a good length infinity pool for swimming, and great views onto the Mekong River - which are great during sunset. The Mekong Estate Residence is a recommened place to stay for those wanting a quiet place to return to after a day exploring Luang Prabang & it's environs. It is less than 10 minutes tuk-tuk ride from the old town.
  
  We stayed in the 'Garden Loft', which is a long spacious bungalow with a good double bed, medium sized dining-table & small kitchen (with pans, plates et al). A closet room & bathroom complete the indoor accommodation. Outside is a long veranda that looks out onto the grounds & the Mekong River (40 metres away). We had our breakfast served each morning on the veranda, which was a great way to start the day. The accommodation is airy, clean & well-maintained, though it is getting slightly tired & the shower is badly designed, but this was a minor issue for us.
  
  Upon arrival Toie from the management team met us & gave an warm & excellent welcome (his english is excellent), along with a local mobile to contact him for any requests - taxis, booking trips, general queries. It was also useful for booking dinner reservations at local restaurants.
  
  During our 4 night stay - which we thoroughly enjoyed, Toie & the woman who brought us breakfast each morning were the only people from the Mekong Estate we had contact with, which was perfect for us. They were professional, helpful & always smiling.
  
  If we were to return to Luang Prabang we would return here & would recommend it to our friends & family.

  A really comfortable destination away from the busy downtown area, with delightful self-contained residences, a gorgeous pool, delightful gardens and a welcoming hosts. Breakfast included, free bikes, good wifiit all adds up to a good place to stay.
