I will simply complete what the first reviewer told us:
it's possible to do a free self tour and to do so they have books/plans in english/french and I believe also in german.
This is what I choose to do and it worked perfect for me.
This is a Fair Trade Lao Silk & Tea Farm.

It's very interesting to learn about silkworms, pepper, spirulina and mountain nuts/sacha inchi! The guided tour is only 15000 KIP and on the farm you can buy beautiful silk scarfs or spirulina for little money.
