  Our visit to Luang Prabang pottery was an absolute highlight of our time in Luang Prabang. We did the pottery and food package. Our hosts Thien and Kheo built and live in this beautiful new building, which contains their pottery shop, pottery workshop and eating area. They have a passion for helping the local community and preserving the local culture that really shines through. Thien took us on a walking tour of the pottery village, and explained the whole process that we saw (digging and preparing clay, the creation of the pots, where and how they are used, firing etc) and how without care and really immediately action it will be lost. Then we had our turn trying out making a clay pot in their workshop under the guidance of a young local potter. That was a hoot and showed us how highly skilled the artisans we saw earlier really are! Our tour concluded with a lunch of local Lao food served in the beautiful eating area while Thien told us about their projects to help the local youth and lift the living standards in the village. Definitely a must do experience Anyone who takes a boat to "pottery village" and just wandered around without a guide really misses out.
