A slice of Italy lost in Lao mountains. We were cycling across Laos this winter and found this place on a cold evening. The table next to the open fire was like heaven, and the pizza and pasta we took were delicious (we took a second pizza as desert). Products are of high quality, and the cooks seem to have been trained in Italy. It is of course quite expensive as compared to local options, but definitly worth it for one night in Italy.
I travelled a lot and ate in a lot of restaurant, but I never experienced anything like this. unbelivable and very unpleasant experience.
we arived to Phonsavan in a very cold weather around 2°. This pizza place had a fire and we went in. we put our wet jacket over the chair and close to the fire to make it dry. the owner came to tell us not to do this because "the fire needs a lot of air" what? ok. moving the table closer to the fire was also a massive problem for the owner so we had to move it back. but the worst was yet to come.
we ordered a big pot of tea. they asked if 4 cups will be ok. we said yes. on the bill, there was 32.000 FOR THE TEA!!! 4x price of one cup. basicaly a price for two normal meals in Laos.
when we told the owner we dont agree with this he started to be really angry. he told us "this is not a social club". he gave us money back, but then he threw us out shouting in italian language.
32.000,- for a tea is a thievery in Laos and decent person never threw out his guest like this!!! avoid this place as everything is a problem!!!
Surprisingly Really great pizza. It’s good to have options for tourists/westerners in a town with all the same food. But it’s also the most expensive restaurant option around
Excellent and super tasty food. If you miss the taste of a real pizza it’s a good place.
However prepare yourself to spend more than usually in SE Asia, 90-120000LAK/pizza
Great pizza. Pasta sauces ok, not worth it according to me. Still, you wont find any better pasta in the area and its still cheap, just not lao cheap.
Surprisingly a really great pizza and homemade pasta in the middle of Laos. Nice chef/owner as well.
Good food and tasty. The staff try hard to please.
Slow service, expensive prices, food OK.
Little bit pricy, but very good and authentic Italian food, quite surprising to see such place in Phonsavan.
After seven months of travel in South East Asia, it was almost orgasmic to taste real Italian food ! Homemade pastas and pizzas are really good, really.
Very good wine too.
Marcelo, the owner, is Italian and friendly. The chief is Spanish and really nice too.
Staff is adorable.
If you have a bit of money, you won't regret it !
Awesome guy, super friendly. Handmade Gnocchi is delicious. Asked about a vegan dessert and he had none as to be expected, in classic italian entertaining style he gave us some Bananas.
Extensive Italian / Spanish menu super friendly staff
Unexpected gem with great food, casual ambiance, reasonable prices, and friendly staff (not much English). Pizza may well be the best in Laos, and the fresh pasta is delectable. WIFI even works! Fresh cakes and even home-made ice cream round out the impressive selection of great food in this outpost district in Laos.
Very Friendly and helpful, nice italien Food!
