A superb restaurant and family business based around Joy's outstanding food and her husbands outstanding art photography. Both reflect a love of people. The hospitality is unmatched. The food in its simple presentation, concentration on flavour, and variety is simply the best in Vientiane. The comfort and ambience of this home restaurant is everything you could wish for. Prices and portions won't disappoint either.
Nice quiet family place a block in from the Mekong river. Easy to miss so use your map!
Met Joy, she shyly said her food was very basic, but I disagree. We ordered the whole fried fish (amazing sauce), Morning Glory and a Pad Thai Almost licked the plates! And Gin & Tonics for couple bucks Does it get better?
Fabulous food in a lovely setting! The food and drinks were very reasonably priced. We had the whole crispy fish which was fresh and tender. Highly recommended place to go while in Luang Prabang.
Our favorite restaurant in LPB. Food is fresh and delicious (no MSG added). Portions are nice size and prices reasonable. The restaurant is very clean and nicely decorated. The bathroom is the cleanest bathroom I've seen in a restaurant throughour Laos and Thailand. But the best reason to come here is Joy and her friendly smile and conversation. Favorite dish is fried fish with garlic and sweet/sour sauce on the side.
Joy is the wife of Australian photographer “Popeye” and a fantastic cook. Less a restaurant than a living room with great photography you will experience home-made meals in a real house. The best place for fish in Luang Prabang! I also loved the giant mugs of fresh ginger tea with honey.
GO HERE! Amazing comfort food. Wonderful hospitality. Just go here, have a beer, and take in the food and the photography.
Delicious food and service. Prices are little bit higher than regular places but well worth it!
Tucked away in a lane , away from the tourist spots, close to the riverside. Great and tasty food and a calming ambience. We ate her twice during our stay. Highly recommended! Portions are decent and prices in the $-$$ range.
Very nice restaurant. The building is very unassuming so be careful not to miss it. Food is delicious and plentiful. Staff are very gracious and helpful.
Joy is the best. Lovely place to eat, drink and be merry. Plenty of options for even the fussiest eater. Always come here every time in Luang Prabang.
Best fish dish I've ever had - Hospitality second to none - Amazing!
Upset that we only discovered Joy's on our last evening or I would have eaten here every day during our visit to Luang Prabang. Joy's food was superb. We had Papaya Salad, Luang Prabang Sausage, Chicken Laap and Vegetable Fried Rice. Very reasonably priced. Everything was perfect and Joy is so sweet. Highly recommended!
Great food and service. Joy is wonderful and has great English.
Family restaurant style, small place with limited tables. Nice tomsome fish and shrimp fried pad Thai.
Very tasty food at reasonable prices. Slightly more expensive than similar places nearby, thus only 4 stars
Great food at affordable price. Friendly staff. Cozy atmosphere And free WiFi.
The noodle, which looks a bit like Vietnamese pho, tastes great.
This is also the house of Paul Wager, a photographer. You can buy postcards of his photographs here. And please consider buying the elephant book. The proceeds is used for elephant conservation in Laos.
Best place in Laos, best Lao food and lovely nice people.
