  One star is generous; the woman behind the counter refused to accept our dollars as they were 'dirty'. They were perfectly fine. We had to borrow money from a nice stranger on our bus without her we would have been stranded as there is no ATM or card facilities not that the staff cared.
  
  We were then asked to pay $2 admin fee which was wrong as it was 10,000kip. Its not much but clearly an attempt to make extra cash on the side.
  
  At the next window there was a $2 fee just to have your passport returned, our dollars were accepted fine here!
  
  Then as a final insult there was a mandatory 5,000kip price to have your temperature checked.
  
  The whole process took around 1 hour and a half and felt like an enormous con. Cant speak for any other borders into laos but be prepared for an arduous time if you have the misfortune of crossing here.

  Anybody knows if I can cross this border with my Vietnamese licensed motorcycle? It is licensed in Saigon. But I have a blue card original. Thank you!!

  Attention!
  You can't cross this border with E-Visa!
  The closest border is Nam Coc (south) or to fly from Hanoi!

  Abbiamo appena passato il confine dopo 1 ora abbondante. Il visto costa dai 42 (solo il Canada ) 40 per Stati uniti e altri paesi e 35 per la maggior parte dei paesi europei e 30 per per Vietnam e altri paesi(proprio scritto others)
  Ovviamente questi soldi coprono solo le spese del visto a cui bisogna aggiungere 10000 kipper la signorina che l'ha compilato altri 20000 per i giorni festivi e per i sabati e domeniche(in totale hanno chiesto 3 dollari). A questo punto il passaporto viene passato ad un altro collaboratore della dogana che per due timbri chiede altri 2 dollari. Sembra sia finito il tutto ma in realtà bisogna fare il check in nel paese..e questo ovviamente costa altri soldi, 4 dollari per l'esattezza. Quando sei ad un passo dall'entrare nel paese ti "invitano" a fare una visita medica al costo di un dollaro che visto che eravamo gli ultimi non abbiamo dovuto fare perché a quanto pare il dottore non era più presente.
  Non avrei dato una stella solo per questo, si sa che nei confini di montagna bisogna accettare cio che viene, il problema è che sia con me che con i ragazzi prima di me l'addetta che compilava i dati del visto NEL passaporto per 3 dollari (nome cognome e tre timbri) ha sbagliato di scrivere. Nel caso dei ragazzi il numero del passaporto nel mio caso il mio cognome. Quando abbiamo fatto notare l'errore hanno cercato di persuaderci che tutto era normale e di "don't worry" e dopo che abbiamo insistito hanno cercato di rimediare all'errore con il correttore universale..
  Dopo un'ora siamo riusciti a trovare un accordo (ci hanno lasciato il numero in caso di problemi al confine per uscire dal paese)

  Officers at the Laos gate required me more money than i actually had to pay for my Visa with some ridiculous reasons that i should pay extra. I had to argue with them about half an hour for that.
  But i gave them in the end since the day was getting dark and was about to rain. Im with my bicycle so i had no choice.
  Laos government should monitor this kind of currupt officers more strongly as the first impression of the country is pretty important.

  It is the worst bordergate I've ever had.
  On the first day I tried to get out with my motorcycle, but this border is apparently the only province they don't accept my Vietnamese number plate (you have to have 27 and not like in my case 21).
  The day after my travelmate tried to leave the country, but they denied it, because he is on E-Visa and they couldn't(didn't want to?) check him out.
  By the way, none of them spoke one word English and weren't helpful at all.

  이 길을 자전거로 넘는 것은 정말 정말 힘들다
  그러나 자전거 여행 자 라면 그것도 여행의 맛으로 보지 않을까 싶다.
  국경을 넘어 잠시 동안은 좋지않은 길 때문에 좀 고생 한다.
  그러나 조금만 지나면 왼쪽으로 강을 두고 한적한 산골 길을 달리게 된다. 진정한 자전거 여행자 에게는 추천
