Bed Bugs! Should have known not to stay at this place from the beginning. When we arrived and asked to see rooms, we were shown some nice double rooms with private bathroom. We started to check the bed quickly for signs of bed bugs (as Laos seems to be notorious for them) and the woman yelled at us for checking saying "her private rooms do not have bugs" and she "would charge us for looking." We should have left. But it looked clean. We brought our things in and immediately went out for dinner, etc. When we came back around 11pm we got ready for bed and when I looked at the pillow (flipped it over) there were bed bugs crawling very clearly on it. When we brought it to their attention they did offer to change our room but no thanks! In all fairness to them, they did give us a complete refund but refused to wash our clothes. AVOID. It would be a nice hotel if they got rid of their bed bug problem.

The good:
There was breakfast for free every day. They served toast, eggs in various options, fruits and a few vegetables as well as tea; water and coffee with "milk" were included.
The facilities were clean and tidy and the staff very friendly and helpful. You can book buses to other Lao destinations as well and the pricing is fair.
The location is good, just close to the Night Market and the Mekong River. The city's centre is close as well as a lot of temples for sightseeing. The Ali Backpacker's Hotel also offers bicycles for rent for about 2000 Lao Kip.
The Hostel also has single as well as double rooms, so that you can change between rooms as well.
The area around the reception is spacious with a lot of places to sit and the WIFI connection is good there.
good breakfast with fresh ingredients. Coffee and tea as well as water included and free for service until 10 AM.
The bad:
WIFI connection in the upper floors is unstable sometimes, so that pages need too much time to load completely.
There are few toilets and showers for so amount of guests that can be welcomes in this Hotel.response / report this review -

Respectiful manager, friendly staff. Clean bathroom, showers. WiFi everywhere. safelock beside each bed,1 minute far from the night market.

The rooms and the shared bathrooms are clean, the location is nice and the facilities are good. The bed is a bit hard though.

Pros: Great location, nice staff and clean rooms and facilities.
Cons: the hardest "bed" I've ever slept on. The breakfast is not as good as the ones other backpacker hostels provide.response / report this review -

The Vietnamese host sold 22.000 LAK ticket for Vietnamese travellers at the price of 60.000 LAK.
What an easy way to get money, huh.
No towel, lock is broken too.

Room just has a single bed and nothing else. Window didn't lock properly and there was no curtain, had to make my own with a towel. Aircon good as it was very hot weather. Managed to get the room to 90000 which includes breakfast. Would be nice if normal milk was provided as condensed is really sweet. Good wifi connection throughout and clean bathrooms. One of the toilets needs to have a blind fitted as you'll be bearing your dignity to the world! Got some laundry done but no care was taken to fold my clothes, they were just screwed up in my laundry bag (been travelling 7 months and never had my laundry returned like that). Hostel near the night market but music can be heard from my room even though it's at the back, probably because of the window issue! I have been in Laos 1 month and paid way less for rooms and got better value for money. I wouldn't stay here again.

Would not recommend this place. First room had a broken bed, bathroom keeps flooding, the lock of the rented motorbike was not working. Laundry service was offered despite broken washing machine, e.g. dirty and broken clothes, some items missing.

Respectiful manager, clean Hostel-bathroom-showers and WiFi everywhere with safelock beside each bed, beaide many locations you may want to visit and the city center, comparing to the cost its really good Hostel
