За скромную сумму денег можно посмотреть 3 зала. Экспонатов много, можно проследить историю начиная с древненого казахского ханство до современного государства.

Странно, что в столь красивом и по-настоящему современном городе музей, находящийся в самом центре Алмааты, находится в столь плачевном состоянии. Сама экспозиция, безусловно представляет интерес, но её организация, отсутствие экскурсоводов, аудиогидов, описание экспонатов скудны, свет отвратительный, паркет и ковры просто в ужасном состоянии, кроме того, в холле пахнет чебуреками из забегаловки, расположенной внутри музея. Вход стоит копейки, но при этом отсутствуют дополнительные услуги, невозможно даже приобрести разрешение на фотосъемку, а бдительные бабушки следят, чтобы никто не доставал фотоаппаратуру.
Могу отметить, что интерес представляет само здание музея (см. фото).
Резюмируя, могу сказать, что городским властям должно быть стыдно, проблему нужно как-то решать.response / report this review -

This museum showcases everything that is great in Kazakhstan. There's plenty of archaeological artifacts and a section on Nursultan Nazarbayev. Everything's in Russian, so either bring a guide or soak up the atmosphere if you can't read it.

No English at all for a state museum..and collection is not organised logically. The carpet are old and dirty and lighting is very bad. Looks like it is closed for years. Really sad, deserve better for 500 tenge

Not bad, but only sometimes translated into English. I was lucky and was there with someone who speaks Russian also, but it will leave you confused otherwise.

Ticket doesn't let you in all parts of museum, and you have to pay extra to take photo's! The displays are cool though.

Unless you speak Russian, this museum is going to leave you with more questions than answers. Nice way to spend 1 hour looking at stuff which you have no idea what it is about. Part ancient Kazakh history, part during WW2. Good thing, it's affordable, 300 tenge locals, 500 for foreign tourist.

Relatively small museum which lacks proper English descriptions. 2-3 hours should be enough to visit. I really liked the yurt and the exhibition around it. I was expecting a bit more but still worth to visit. There is a small gift shop too but it seemed overpriced.

I went to this museum with the promise that it was somewhere I could spend two whole days in. It has, in fact, only two permanent exhibits, one on the history of Kazakstan, and one on the life of the president. The cost seemed very inviting, but you ended up having to pay 5 times as much as the entry fee to get into the temporary exhibits too. I saw the whole place in 2 hours, and that included 1/2 hour wandering around the craft fair in the atrium.
