Good place to stay while travelling, feels like home, Very first choice of tourists when they arrive in Almaty. Usually group of people and backpackers. Great Hostel, would recommend everyone to stay here. People who wants to socialize,Communicate,Learning Languages, Meeting Different people from Different Side of the World and explore, This must be a place for you.

It is more of a family than a business. No nobody is related but it feels as a family there. The owner, Shakir is a great host 10/10 to him.
Ofcourse the Hostel has it's flaws like any other place. I gave 5 stars for the atmosphere and the Host/ owner. Rest was not my priority so for me it was totally worth living.response / report this review -

Now for people looking for prostitutes and cons
Pros:
1. It is definitely a place you would like to stay if you prefer family like environment.
2. The owner SHAKIR is a gem. You can contact him with any problem, question or help. If he can somehow, he surely will help you.
3. The hostel has more of a family home vibe than a business. You can compare it to a good college hostel than else.
4. If you prefer company and is travelling alone, this place is a definite stay.
Cons:
1. The hostel feels little bit old and many things like stairs to go up(if you have been offered a bed upstairs) is really cramped up and people with big feet will have a hard time.
2. The hostel has many people who stay for long, like students, and you might find their luggage scattered all around.
3. The beds are hard but can't say uncomfortable, my only problem was the bedding seemed slightly dirty.
4. Maybe it is not worth mentioning but as an honest review I'll write. The owner ofcourse is too easy going so some guests take advantage and do whatever they want (like couples making out everywhere, making love on dorm beds or sometimes people eating your food (without asking) if you are not there). Which sometimes may be a bit uncomfortable for people.
Ofcourse the Hostel has it's flaws like any other place. I gave 5 stars for the atmosphere and the Host/ owner. Rest was not my priority so for me it was totally worth living.response / report this review -

I have been travelling for 10 months over Asia and this is one of my favourite hostels. Shakir really makes you feel at home. I was there for my birthday and he cooked me a cake and organised a little party with the other guests.
The place is clean with several dorms and two bathrooms. The kitchen / common area is cosy and comfortable. I ended up staying longer than expected in Almaty just for this place.response / report this review -

I stay about 7 days waiting for the visa and shaqi is a great host, he can speak english fluently(he watch game of thrones in english) . And also gave me a lot of directions on a lot of things, recommended for english speaker like me. :)

Pros:
Really low prices - in oct 2016 I only paid 1500 tenge per night (no breakfast but you can cook your own food). The owner Shakir is very helpful - he will help you to arrange day trips, call for taxis, advise on directions His grandma is also super cute :) There's not much in the neighbourhood itself but within 25mins on foot you'll get to some nice eateries (there's a really good Georgian place just 15mins away), a metro station, the opera hse, and even the cable car station to kok tobe. Lockers available. Wifi works perfectly well.
Cons:
A clean but pretty small/basic bed and bathroom. Insufficient power plugs and hangers in room. And this is essentially a residential area so it can be bit scary to walk back alone in the dark. If you are a light sleeper you're also likely to be kept awake by the many barking dogs in the area. The hostel also has the narrowest stairs I've ever seen, so please do yourself a favour and stay elsewhere if you have huge luggage.
All in all for the price and quality I would recommend this hostel for 1 or 2 nights!response / report this review
