Khan Shatyr ("Royal Marquee") is a giant transparent tent in Astana, the capital city of Kazakhstan. Built in a distinctively neofuturist style, the architectural project was unveiled by the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev on December 9, 2006.
The 150m-high (500 ft) tent has a 200m elliptical base covering 140,000 square metres (14 ha; 35 acres).[2] Underneath the tent, an area larger than 10 football stadiums, is an urban-scale internal park, shopping and entertainment venue with squares and cobbled streets, a boating river, shopping centre, minigolf and indoor beach resort. The fabric roof is constructed from ETFE-cushions provided by Vector Foiltec suspended on a network of cables strung from a central spire. The transparent material allows sunlight through which, in conjunction with the stack effect, air heating and cooling systems, is designed to maintain an internal temperature between 15–30 °C (59–86 °F) in the main space and 19–24 °C (66–75 °F) in the retail units, while outside the temperature varies between −35 and 35 °C (−31 and 95 °F) across the year.response / report this review -

Nice mall with lot of shops and things to do. Food court was above average with lot of choices, but didn't like the Italian food at all. Activities for kids are a plenty! Branded clothes with latest designs.

It was nice, quite mall expensive but there are some good choices there and you can have some coffee or tea there it's also secure and safe and also you can exchange money there

Cinema has been closed while grocery is still under renovation until next year of 2018. Less fine dining restaurants available too. But most apparels and department stores here offer wide choices. The best thing on this mall is their indoor amusement park for kids and pool for all.

Massive and impressive shopping mall designed by Sir Norman Forster. The huge tent can keep over 30℃ inside even it is -30℃ outside. The water park and theme park is just awesome, with great fun.

Interesting architecture, not very good shops inside, quite nice foodcourt - I especially recommend izbushka local kazakh fast-food, also there is a swimming pool on the top floor, I've heart it is nice, but not worth the entry price..

one of my fav mall in Astana. lot of shops and good verity of restaurant on top floor. The design of the mall is very unique and you should visit even if you do not need to buy anything.

A great weekend hangout specially during winter. A huge variety of shops are available to shop from with a wide variety of price range. There's a food court and fake seaside beach on the top floor. There are activities like cinema and rides for kids. A great family place.
