Definitely worth spending an hour here if you are visiting St. Kitts. Beautiful gardens and views. They do a very short explanation/demo of how batik is done. And, they have a large selection of batik items to purchase. There is also a small snack bar with a little outside seating. Note: there is an admission fee and they accept US$.

Caribelle Batik at Romney Manor is a must see on the St. kitts scenic tour trail. The shop Batik Shop itself is well appointed with the displayed Batik products wowing the customers, the things that can be done in batik
Since the products are prepared onsite it is possible to observe the work in progress so to speak. There are sever aspects to the facility and they are all quite interesting and outstanding in their own right; The Grounds with the Park/Garden like atmosphere; the Batik shop with the production visible and the observation point for the surrounding forested and scenic areas.
Romney Manor is not just the address but it is an attraction and point of interest by itself and the Batik establishment adds to the appeal. The grounds with the flourishing flowers and labelled plants provides interest and grabs the attention of the visitor. I really enjoyed the plants and the view from the observation section. The fountain and deck and the other aspects gave me the feeling that I was in a luscious garden/park and that sense of wonder and awe which goes along with it.
A great location to spend time at and to enjoy the scenery while stocking up on your batik or other gift item.response / report this review -

I'll start by being the drunk in the room, make sure you get a rum punch. Outside of the rum, great taste of history, and modern time.

Caribelle Batik and Botanical Garden is located in historic Romney Manor, once a sugarcane plantation.
Caribelle Batik has a small area at the entrance to their store where two women demonstrate the ancient method of applying wax and dye to cloth to produce amazing Batik designs. The beautiful prints are totally created by the artisans. Each piece is unique. The Batik display inside the workshop was interesting as well.
The little shop is very nice and the products are unique and of high quality.
The beautiful exotic tropical garden very well presented and maintained.response / report this review -

I anticipated this visit months before my cruise and was very disappointed when I got there. A beautiful place-gardens, buildings and crafts are spectacular but the staff were cold and dismissive. They appeared to be on surveillance duty, making me very uncomfortable to the point where I hastily selected a few items, without feeling like I made good choices.
I also felt I did not have the time or access to the salespersons or their expertise to make the best selections. I ended up purchasing items that were not what I really wanted-authentic looking pieces instead of fabric designs that look commercially made. Also I was not able to ask which designs were longer, wider and more flowing as this was the look I was really going for. I would suggest that patrons have the time and option to try samples on and ask questions before feeling pressured to buy and run.
