The first thing you notice when you walk into this place is how dark it is and no one is around. No one is at the front desk, And no one appears to be at the bar on the left. But once you walk over to the desk you see someone crunching behind the bar playing on her phone, who doesn't even make eye contact or say hello. She simply walks into the back room to get someone to come to the front desk. The guy who comes out looks so bored and pissed off to be working there that it sets the tone for a stay at this place. It's pretty miserable. The furniture is scratched up, worn down and pretty dirty. There are mosquitoes everywhere and any request for assistance is met with a person with a huge chip on their shoulder. Particularly the night manager who I noticed is very rude to women. He is tolerable towards men. The women he does not seem to like.

This hotel is so dirty, so infested with mosquitoes, so rundown, that I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. The stuff are bored and tired and couldn't care less, and repeated requests to clean or treat the place for mosquitoes, leave you being treated like you are a difficult nag. To top it off, I came back one day to my room and found a smashed soap dispenser on the shower floor, and they without my consent and fraudulently charged my credit card $20 for it. Their are plenty of nice waterfront hotels in Phnom Penh. Take your pick can stay elsewhere.

I like this boutique hotel because of the location, friendly and helpful staffs plus the design of the room.

They also offer reasonable transportation with prices clearly stated.

BEDBUGS!

This is more of a PSA than anything else and some details are kinda gross so be warned.

My girlfriend and I recently stayed at Quay Boutique hotel November 2017 - booked via American Express online. The hotel is definitely not a 4 star hotel by US standards -- more so a 2.5 star hotel based on its condition, decor, lack of amenities, and the story to come

Upon check-in, we were shown to a deluxe room that had no windows so we paid $30 a night for an upgrade to a top floor room that had a nice view. The problems began after

The room was filled with mosquitos which we spent about an hour killing and after that we left the hotel to get lunch. When we returned, I was suspect on the bug situation so looked around and to my dismay found bedbugs all over the ceiling of the hotel (photo of one big one shown below).

The hotel had no cleaning staff so literally the bartender from downstairs was sent up to our room to handle our complaint (photo shown). I ended up killing one of the bed bugs to verify and it was filled with human blood. Clearly the bedbugs were feeding, and clearly they were all around the bed areas.

Given the circumstances, we immediately checked out of the hotel (around 5:30pm) and ended up staying at another hotel in Phnom Penh.

The most frustrating part of this was that the hotel refused to provide a refund for 3 night stay when we checked out a few hours after check-in. Not even a refund on night 2 and 3. American Express disputed this for us based on our evidence but they refused to budge. They felt so bad for us that they provided a $75 travel voucher for future bookings.

So definitely keep this in mind if you're booking and make sure to check your bed and surrounding areas very carefully if you are staying here.

We were on vacation and it took a few nights to get over this creepy feeling.

Lovely small hotel only 18 rooms. A little bit noisy when you are on the street side. The bed and size room is big. And the breakfast and coffee absolutely good and tastefully. I am a very honest person and very critical so please believe me good value.

Can only comment on the restaurant/bar on the top floor. We received very good service. Food was above average but not amazing, nothing wrong with it. Had quite a few cocktails which tasted great but weren't very strong. Happy hour prices make it sweeter. But its a great setting, and a great place to look over the riverside as the sun goes down and night comes on. Really nice view
Brought our children once, no problems. Waitresses played with them during quiet service times.

STRICTLY AVOID!!!
- Wanted extra blanket and pillow, got pillow but instead of blanket was given a bed sheet. Apparently that's the best they can do
- My wife ordered vegetable sprint roll and multiple times reiterated that she wants veg and no meat. The waitress reconfirmed and finally served one with pork inside. When we pointed it out, staff behavior was like whats the big deal. It is for somebody who doesn't strictly doesn't eat pork. The cook just walked away as if nothing happened. Very average hotel. Has a lot of potential. Must have started with a great boutique concept however seeing a lot of signs of wear and tear. Staff need to be more attentive.

Could be cleaner. The breakfast was ok, nothing great, but should have a "no sexpat" policy. Too many gross people there for me to ever take my family back. If they fix these two problems, it will actually be a very nice place to stay at riverside.

We love staying here, always book one of the top floor suites if available. Great view of the river and situated in nice part of the city with shops and restaurants next door. Staff are lovely and always there if you need anything. Hard to leave this place!

The best place to stay during the Water Festival. Faces the Mekong river where the boat races takes place. Enjoy the wonderful colorfully lighted and decorated boats at night. One boat anchored right in front of our room the night we stayed. Awesome sight!

This review only concerns the restaurant. We found a mosquito in our ice cream. The staff didn't offer a new ice cream or reimbursement. They barely apologize. Beside the mosquito the ice cream had no taste. Definitely a place to avoid.

The Quay Hotel has two kinds of rooms, with balcony and without. I had with and it was great. But there is also a nice roof top bar and sitting area.

Great little hotel. The suites are really big and have river view. All the modern amenities, good breakfast and excellent location next to all the restaurants and bars.
