Originally a Hindu temple but converted into Buddhism oriented. Depicts the same Hindu mythology.

A single small sandstone tower located opposite Angkor Wat, Ta Prohm Kel is the ruin of the temple or ‘chapel’ of one of the 102 hospitals built by Jayavarman VII throughout the kingdom. Of very similar design and state of ruin to the Chapel of the Hospital near Ta Keo. The Buddhist-themed carving on the northern pediment is in fair condition and displays marks of vandalism characteristic of the 13th century Hindu resurgence. The coarsely rendered carvings on the interior of the temple are probably from a much latter period.

An interesting temple with huge tree roots growing over the wall and roof. A nice place for photography.

Adjacent to Wat Angkor, Ta Prome Kel is a much smaller affair, slmost a cosy version of the huge ancient khmer city. I like that the trees and roots are still present. Of course, they cannot be removed without destroying all the artefacts, and i think this love hate relationship presents an interesting perspective to the place! I spent 2 whole days exploring Wat Angkor and its vicinity. Anything less that a full day here will see you missing out on stuff i believe!

I go and back through the Angkor Wat road many times but I don't see it I ask myself oh because I'm not interested in temple but after something motivated me. Then I'm surprised of it because I just saw it. Wow amazing!
